Pulled it yesterday for about 10 miles to get the feel of it. Seems to work great. Lots of power going up a very steep hill. I was passing other cars, no problem. Boost gauge was waaaaaay over to the right, of course. Anyway, seems like a good combo. I've done my homework and ran the numbers, and I have some good headroom with my max payload (1815 lbs on my truck). It's just the wife and me, so we aren't carrying a lot of extra stuff. First big trip is in a couple of weeks from Comox, BC to Cold Lake, Alberta, just over 2,000 miles round-trip.
Might be nothing but something to watch out for: You said you have the 8k bars, that usually means 800lb tongue weight limit. You will likely be above 800 lbs on the tongue. Likely 900-1000 lbs. You like be able to exchange them. Good luck and happy camping.

Thanks. I might get the heavier rated bars. We just got back from our 3,300km (2,000 mile) trip to Alberta. The truck towed like a boss! Very happy with how stable it was, and how much power it had going through the Rockies.
