First Tow - Catalina 263RLS
One of the reasons I bought my truck was so that we could tow a travel trailer. When I ordered the truck, I made sure I got the max tow package. Got the trailer yesterday. A Catalina 263RLS. 26ft trailer, 29.5ft from tip of the tongue to the back. Empty weight 6,100 lbs, maximum loaded weight 7,700 lbs. I've got a Fastway E2 hitch with 8,000lb bars. Pulled it yesterday for about 10 miles to get the feel of it. Seems to work great. Lots of power going up a very steep hill. I was passing other cars, no problem. Boost gauge was waaaaaay over to the right, of course. Anyway, seems like a good combo. I've done my homework and ran the numbers, and I have some good headroom with my max payload (1815 lbs on my truck). It's just the wife and me, so we aren't carrying a lot of extra stuff. First big trip is in a couple of weeks from Comox, BC to Cold Lake, Alberta, just over 2,000 miles round-trip.

Comox to Cold Lake eh, are you retired from the Air Force by chance?
I love going back to Cold Lake, see what's changed and do a little camping, but I only have to travel from Edmonton.
Anyway enjoy your trip.

No, not retired, still serving. So is my daughter. She's based in Cold Lake, so we're going up for a visit. She only joined up 2 years ago. She's a private, I'm a Captain, yet she refuses to call me "Sir". I don't get it.

Looks like we have the same camper! Ours is a 251rls, but think it’s the same. We just got back from a 5000 mile trip from saint Louis through Colorado to Yellowstone then up to glacier. My truck is similar (1893# payload) but I have the 5.0. Truck pulled the camper great even through the mountains, never lacked power or felt like it was overwhelmed. Think you’ll really enjoy pulling yours.

That's great to hear, thanks! I googled the 251rls and it looks identical to ours inside and out. The wife and I love that rear living space with the big window out back, and the two easy chairs. We're really looking forward to hitting the road and enjoying it.

We're heading up to Seal Bay on the 12th for a week of camping! My second goal is a visit to the 442 Squadron and the air museum at the airport. I worked a lot with 442 (pre Cormorant days) as I was a SAR manager for the province.

Nice. If you're lucky, the Y2K Spitfire will still be here. It came in a few days ago. I was right beside the runway when it came in. Beautiful job on the restoration. I think it is going to be on public display starting on the 13th. It's going to the Abbotsford airshow next weekend, and then back here. But I'll be in Cold Lake then. https://www.comoxvalleyrecord.com/ne...re-comes-home/
