I see a thread where people are posting their payloads. Wouldn't it be interesting to see people post their scale weights?

I've seen the numbers somewhere. A supercrew equipped identically will be right at 700 lbs lighter with the aluminum body compared to the steel bodies. With a regular cab the difference is much less dramatic, only about 200 lbs IIRC, with a crew cab somewhere in between.

acdii isn't comparing apples to apples and if he listed the cab style he has I missed it. The 4X4 components should add 300-500 lbs plus the weight of the fuel in the larger tank. Most guys run much heavier tires on 4X4's as well which could add another 50-100 lbs on the scales.

If you were to compare a regular cab 2wd aluminum body to a 4X4 Supercrew steel truck the difference could easily be well over 1000 lbs. Going the other way it would be easy to get an aluminum body to weigh more, substantially more. That shouldn't be a surprise. You've gotta make sure you're comparing apples to apples.

Both trucks were Lariat Screw with 5.5 bed. Both trucks were weighed with the same wheels and tires too. The 14 had running boards that weighed 45 pounds. Both have a bedrug, both have Husky floor liners, both have the same bed extender(kept it from the wreck and used it in the new one).

I am willing to bet that even though 10 gallons of gas = 63# that the weight of the gas tank of a 26 gallon versus a 36 gallon is something to be accounted for since you are talking an increase of about 30% in size. Mine is huge and I wouldn't want to have to lift that up into place even empty.

They are plastic, so what, 2 pounds? Have you picked up an empty plastic gas tank? They don't weigh very much.
