Default Factor Tow Hitch- Is it Garbage?

Is it required to beef up tow Hitch on a 2016 F150 to pull a 9998lb Dump trailer?

The hitch is more than strong enough to pull anything that the truck is rated to pull the hitch is NOT the limiting factor it"s the truck and it"s load capacity.

Yes, remove the ball mount and insert it into a 250....
I'm just being a smart a**. The receiver is fine, but you may need a weight distributing hitch for that kind of weight.

It should be a class IV hitch on your truck. That's good for 10K lbs Gross Trailer Weight, 1000 lb tounge weight or 14K lbs if using it with a weight distributor with 1400 lb tougue weight.
A class V hitch is 12K lbs and 17Klbs weight distributed, 2-1/2" receiver.

Read the sticker on your hitch (lay down and look up). It is not rated for that kind of tongue weight without a weight distribution hitch. Even with a weight distribution hitch, depending on the tongue weight of the trailer, you may been exceeding your truck's payload or rear axle capacities. Is that 9998 fully loaded, or empty before you load? If empty, there is no way you'll come close to towing that loaded.

I think the 2016 are still only rated for 500/5000 without weight distributing. My 2012s class IV is only rated to 1050/10500 with weight distributing. I think the 2016 are a little more (11K or 12K IIRC). You will need a weight distributing hitch for a 10K trailer.

Give us some specifics on your truck, engine, cab, options, etc

Tow capacity varies. The hitch is just one part of the equation.
