Default Picked it up this morning

Wow is about all I can say. My first truck after >60yrs.
The Explorer was getting too old and tired.

I'm very impressed with the current gen F150. Prior trucks were 4x4 King Ranch or Lariat trucks. This time I wanted a tow vehicle and fewer creature comforts for a much lower price point. And I got exactly what I wanted for a much smaller price than a King Ranch that has way more creature features I do not want or use.

So I found a 2016 SCAB 2WD with max tow, nav, 36 gallon tank and center floor console and the 302A pkg. It's been the best truck I've owned. Payload is 2087 lbs. Terrific! I use it to tow my car and tools to the track (close to 6000# for the trailer and car). The 3.5L works so nicely, it seems effortless to tow my trailer and car either on hills or on the flats. As for fuel economy, I get anywhere between 12 to 17.5 mpg according to the display. It all depends on the wind direction and terrain. Am I happy with this setup? Absolutely. Do I miss any of the bells or whistles from the King Ranch....nope. Manual A/C works very well and the cloth seats are extraordinarily comfortable. As for looks, there's no doubt the higher trim lines look better imho. But given I got a truck I really wanted at a much lower price point, I'm very content.

I am impressed with the seats also. Don't need the dual temp control. Have it in the Escape and keep both sides the same temp anyway. Key in the ignition is fine for me. Don't need heated anything as I am in FLA. Dealer found me a vehicle with options I realy didn't want so they took them off the price. That's the advantage of getting a 2017 at this time of the year. Have to wait till I get 1000 miles on it before I can hook it up to our 26ft 5600lb TT. Can't wait to see what it will do. Have been pulling it with an Explorer with the 5.0L. Explorer is gone now. Wore it out after 156k miles.

Nice lookin' truck! Congrats.

I too went with a [Ford (-Dealer) Certified Pre Owned] XLT, cloth, column shift... very happy. These latest gen F150s are such nice trucks. Rather than the EcoBoost, I wanted the latest-design 5.0 V8, the Mustang's Coyote four-cam.

Have been pulling it with an Explorer with the 5.0L
That 5.0 was the pushrod Windsor of 289/302 lineage. The 5.0s in recent model years F150 is an entirely new lump. I mention this only for two reasons: you used "the", perhaps insinuating it was the same 5.0 engine and for those reading this useful thread who have yet to learn that the latest 5.0 is not the pushrod engine (those folks are still out there!).

As for the 23 vs 36 gallon tank, I hear you. I stop every two hours too. I like to keep my tank topped off and for the reasons you stated earlier. ...but it only costs more the first time you fill it; after that, you're only buying the amount of fuel you use.

For those that don't need the extra capacity, the *only* detriment would be hauling around the additional weight of the extra 13 gallons. Not a big deal.

Again, nice-lookin' truck. I hope to see you post again and again about how much you like it!

Thanks Apples. I know the coyote is not the same as tbe old 5.0. Will miss that sound. Seems you and I are in the minority concerning the 23 gal gas tank. Oh well, we have our reasons. I sure don't feel like I'm driving a truck. It's so quiet.
