If you buy a new F-150, be sure it includes the Max Tow package, which includes tow mirrors. Depending on trim level, the Ford tow mirrors have power fold and telescope. But you'll have to buy fancier than XLT trim to get power fold and power telescope. Beginning with 2013 models of F-150, the power folding/power telescoping tow mirrors were part of the Max Tow pkg on FX Luxury, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum models.

But warning, the new F-150 MUST have the factory installed Max Tow pkg, else you get the tiny outside mirrors, no matter how much you pay for your new truck. And on trucks with FX2 or FX4 trim, you must also have the FX Luxury package. That usually means you must plan ahead and special order your new truck to get exactly what you want.

Things could change with the almost-completely-new 2015 F-150, so get a copy of the 2015 F-150 order guide and go over it with a fine-tooth comb to see exactly what the rules will be for standard and optional equipment with various trim levels. You probably cannot download a copy of the Order Guide from a Ford website, so have a good friend in a Ford dealership download one and print it out for you - or maybe e-mail it to you. It's not available yet, but should be available a few months before the 2015 F-150 production begins.

If you order a SuperDuty instead of a half-ton, the tow mirrors are standard. But whether they have memory and power fold and power telescope depends on the trim level. So pay attention to the details in the Order Guide if you order a new SuperDuty.

That will require wiring harness, switches, and other parts, along with excellent instructions on exactly how to install them and wire everything up so they fold and telescope similar to the factory tow mirrors on 2014 King Ranch pickups with the Max Tow Pkg.

Exactly, if they had their own switch on the interior mirror bracket, it would be so much easier for us to retrofit and not have to run wires, etc.

I have a 2013 fx4 with max tow, luxury package and it came with standard mirrors. I read somewhere that Canadian dealers had the option to order these trucks without the tow mirrors.

Hoping to see flat glass on the passenger side UPPER mirror as should be for much needed depth perception while towing.

The OE ford towing mirror on my 12 is convex.

Well I'm getting a STX, so this would be something I add aftermarket. I wish I could afford a King Ranch but I can't.

I am in. I will buy these the day they come out. I might buy the best I can get till then though, I hate my tiny little mirrors!

Thanks for the info guys!

What would be the best mirrors out now that would fit a 2010 FX4… I would like memory, heat, tint….

thanks!

The Max Tow pkg is not available with STX trim. And you need the extra 500 pounds of payload capacity to tow even a small trailer without exceeding the GVWR of the F-150. (I don't have the Max Tow pkg, and my F-150 is overloaded with my small TT that grosses only 4,870 pounds when wet and loaded on the road.)

So if you cannot afford at least a Lariat, then go back to the order guide (or Ford.com build&price) and put together either an XL or XLT, and add the optional Max Tow pkg.

Here is the description from the 2012 Order Guide. I don't think it's changed for the 2013 and 2014 models:

Availability:
Optional on XLT and FX2/FX4, plus on XL that have optional pkg that includes power mirrors

Not Available with:
126" wheelbase (regular cab shorty)
XLT SuperCab with P235/75R17 BSW A/T (T7B), L245/75R17E BSW A/T (T7E) or P255/65R17 OWL A/S (T73)
XLT SuperCrew with P255/65R17 OWL A/S (T73) or L245/75R17E BSW A/T (T7E)

Requires:
3.5L EcoBoost™ Engine (99T)
3.73 LS rear-axle ratio (XL and XLT) with Heavy-Duty Payload Pkg. (627)
3.73 or 4.10 electronic-locking differential axle (FX4)
3.73 electronic-locking differential axle is standard without Heavy-Duty Payload Package (627)
XL requires Power Equipment Group (85A)
Non-Heavy-Duty Payload Package XLT SuperCab and SuperCrew, 4x2 and 4x4 with 17” wheels require P265/70R17 OWL A/T (T7H)
XL with Decor Group (86D) requires Fog Lamps (595)
XL requires Heavy-Duty Payload Pkg. (627)
XLT Regular Cab requires Heavy-Duty Payload Pkg. (627)

Includes:
Upgraded rear bumper
Class IV trailer hitch receiver
7-pin wiring harness
Upgraded radiator
Auxiliary transmission oil cooler
Trailer Brake Controller
SelectShift Transmission
Side Mirrors, black manual telescoping trailer tow w/power glass (includes heat, turn signal & puddle lamps)
Memory feature included on side mirrors when order with FX Luxury Package (55F)
Note: Max tow is the same as the regular tow pkg, except it includes the tow mirrors and the brake controller (which is optional with the regular tow pkg). And the big thing which is not mentioned in the Order Guide is 500 pounds more GVWR to give you adequate payload capacity to tow a small TT or cargo trailer grossing up to around 6,500 pounds without exceeding the GVWR of the F-150.

I don't even tow much. I like them for their functionality while parking and such. And I got approved for the STX.

On a 2010 STX you have available power, signal, puddle and if you change the climate controller; heated. I have swapped the climate controller in anticipation of swapping to all of the above and as an added bonus you have outside temp by adding outside sensor.
My understanding from these posts that all these are quite possibly not available on 2011 up.

Please see the following thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/2010-s...irrors-139749/

Please see following thread for aftermarket tow mirrors coming: https://www.f150forum.com/f82/f150-p...-works-236107/

Between the available threads you should be able to find and get all your questions answered.
