Take pics on how to get the factory caps off. If looks like you have two clips at the top and a couple Phillips screws near the bottom of the cap. It also looks like it can all be done without taking out the mirror like you have to on the tow max mirrors on the F-150

its just 2 clips. tip the glass down and put your screwdrivers here, pry up slightly to move these tabs.... no forcing, pulling or jerking needed.

Couple questions:

1) it seems for 2013 one set of the A1 mirros have "memory" How would we know if we have memory? I presume this memory for the mirror positions?

2) the post above talks about taking the factory caps off. Can someone explain why people are doing this? It is b/c people are swapping the chrome craps from the standard non tow mirrors onto the A1 tow mirrors?

yes - Mirror memory is just that - tied to the seat position memory buttons if you have it.

Caps are personal preference, some like black, some like painted.... and myself - I love the CHROME DOME! And the ones for the F-250 from 1A Auto fit perfectly! Actually they are the same molding number on the textured plastic piece vs chrome, which was kind of expected but great news!

These are the caps I bought from 1A Auto:

And this is what they look like installed on the new tow mirrors, fantastic!

If you buy these, double check they actually are fully clipped in at the top when you install, mine needed a little help from a screwdriver on the clip to be fully secured.... They're too pricey to have them blow-off going down the road.

Thanks for the info. I do have the 2 memory buttons on my seat...I wasn't aware they also kept memory for the mirrors, that's is nice!

I guess I have to wait till the mirrors are back in stock. I have the chrome package and think yours look great with the chrome caps...which I'll do also!

For those looking for chrome caps I purchased off E-bay a set for $49 shipped. They are the oem type that clip into place just like factory.

AM-AutoParts is the seller. I ordered on the 1st and received on the 4th. If anyone wants a set of the black textured shoot me a price and we can make a deal.

Would the oem ford amber turn signal be a direct replacement for the smoked turn signal on these?
