F150 Lariat can't tow!

yeah, but it scares him! Sounds like one of those no replacement for displacement guys and abhors new technology. After towing the IKE with my trailer and the EB, I don't think I would want the V8 for towing. If I find a truck that has what I want in it though, I don't care if it was the 3.5 or the 5.0 that it came with, both are equally good engines, The advantage to the 3.5 is being able to climb mountains with ease, but since I don't do it everyday, or every year for that matter, the 5.0 will work just fine too.

Didn't expect anything differant
ACDII- Nothing like a big block sorry just my opinion. I have no problem with new technology. Bottom line is I trusted the salesman when he said it would be no problem and as stated by someone on here the 331 sucks with a 5.0. So there is nothing to fix
Ricktwuhk- I have NEVER towed with it before so go back and read the post. Also the post from 1.5 yrs ago was an informative post about the law. The law in many states requires a brake controller so why would it not be included in a tow package? That was the point but I'm sure you knew that, you're just so smart. So Mr. F150 police when you search and read something try comprehending it besides just reading it out loud to yourself. I never post on here just read once in a while because its guys like you that can't read & jump to conclusions. I actually like the truck (as stated) and as a my 3rd vehicle it was just fine for fishing & hunting. So I have no hard feelings until now trying to use it for the propose it was bought. I wouldn't carry a grudge for a week let alone 1.5 yrs , I would get a new truck just like I am now.
Jeff1024- There is nothing to fix, wrong rear with wrong motor. Not complaining just making a clear statement that is true.Thank the good lord I can just go buy what will pull it correctly
All and all I appreciate the direction from some of you. This was new situation for me and the salesman felt so confident I didn't question it, live and learn . I wanted the Denali from the beginning but fell in love with the amenities of the Lariat so I bought it. The GMC dealer is giving me 38K for the truck so I am happy. He has been selling trucks for 32 years , that's a good start, he summed it up pretty good. He said " you had a car salesman sell you a truck, it happens a lot" I am doing my homework anyway this time don't want to have an issue again.

OK, here goes. I love my 2016 F150 Lariat 5.0 liter, it has 12K miles on it. I bought it to tow late 2016 brand new absolutely loaded sticker was 62K. The dealer told me no problem at all so I didn't question anything...Bad Move!
I Just got a 2018 26' Rockwood dry weight 6200 lbs. Bought a equalizer system. Go to pick up the new camper and OMG are you kidding me?
That truck is a dog with that weight. auto tow keeps it in 3rd to stay at 60-65 MPH. That's not the worse of it , you would think you were in a rocking chair when you tow. . You actually rock back and forth!!! The suspension of the rear is way to soft it sits down 2+ inches in the rear. I fooled around with the equalizer thinking what's wrong??? nothing The front stays at the height before and after the trailer is attached but the rear drops 2" as mentioned. I love the truck but it can't tow that weight dry...nothing in my truck or in the trailer has been added.
TWO issues. The motor should have been larger ( no eco boost thank you) 6.2 not a 5.0
The rear should have been around a 373 instead I have a 331
So now I'm looking at a Denali 2500 HD, so mad at the ford dealer! He should have put me in a F250 with the 6.2. Let me be very clear money was not an issue . He probably didn't have what I liked in stock and pushed this one. Sorry everyone the F150 without the right motor & rear just can't cut the numbers they tell you.
Ok lets have it , I know a bunch will want to rip me apart but these are the facts. If your looking at one of these to tow stay under 4000 lbs. just my opinion.

Caveat emptor, do your homework. It's alarming how many people don't on such a big ticket item.

The law in many states requires trailer brakes for trailers that weigh more than a certain weight, from 1,500 pounds in Idaho and a few other states to 4,500 pounds in Texas, with the most common limit of 3,000 pounds in most states. But not for lighter trailers. And it doesn't require that the trailer brakes be electric (magnetic) brakes, so a brake controller for electric brakes is not required by any state/province. Many trailers have hydraulic "surge" brakes, controlled by a master cylinder on the tongue, and they have absolutely no use for an electric brake controller. So folks towing boat trailers with surge brakes don't want to pay extra for an electric brake controller. So the vehicle manufacturers don't include a brake controller in the regular tow package. F-150 includes the integrated trailer brake controller (ITBC) in the optional Max Tow Package but not in the regular tow pkg. Most manufacturers offer brake controllers as an option, so people with more than two brain cells to rub together can order a tow vehicle that is properly equipped for towing their trailer if it has electric brakes,
