For the future, I would go to the 09 and up section for these questions as the guys driving the antiques will always throw up their arms with disgust!

Look at the thread I posted, he has a 5.4 but if he can do it with a 5.4 then you should with the EB.

There is a ton of good weight info. There is a lot more to towing than just what it says it can tow, there are axle ratings, tire ratings, hitch ratings, ect.

Do your research before you go to the camper dealer.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the issue isn't with the weight of the trailer, it's the pintle weight of the trailer the OP listed, which is 2000 pounds.

I've had 2K in the bed for short distances, but it's not something I'd want to go far with.

Can and should are two completely different animals.

I know you have heard them they have a very distinctive graaaaaah sound when you take you foot of the the gas petal.

And they are illegal in some downtown/residential areas. I think that applies more to bigger trucks of the 18 wheeled kind, but still...

With it being a 5th wheel, would the hitch rating really apply. I thought that was more at the bumper than anything?

Like I said, you have to take into account ALL weight ratings, not just the hitch.

If he puts 2000lbs of tounge weight whether a 5th or bumper, its still 2000 being applied to the suspension, axles, bearings, ect. Now with 2000 you then need to acount for passengers and cargo. This all chips away from the cargo capacity.

Only applies to engine brakes (reason being is most bigger trucks don't have mufflers). Exhaust brakes are a completely different story. Only one actual Jake has actually ever been made for a pickup truck and that was back in the day of the 5.9 Cummins diesels (since they saw use in just about everything from pickups, to international harvesters, to Case tractors, to Deuce and a halts, and even some day cab tractors) but requires a head modifications and a new cam shaft. Today all of the diesel pickups have exhaust brakes. Currently only the GM LMN uses the exhaust brake in conjunction with retarding the timing.

Default Towing what '

[I]I am waiting on my F150 ECB with the max tow, short bed , 4x4, 3.7, super crew to arrive. Has anyone pulled a 5th wheel travel trailer with the ECB? I am looking at a 32ft TT 9000lbs with a 2000lb hitch weight. The factory rep for the trailer company says it will be fine. Asking the real world for assurance.

YEP been there heard that before -If you believe that ?--the number of under powered rigs is much higher than the right power rigs==

"YOU WILL BE SORRY -----check it out for yourself He is SELLING not towing --

pretty funny read, the PO of my 98 ram 1500 pulled a 7000 lb 5th wheel travel trailer for about 20k miles, never had one problem. some reason people are stuck on these trucks only handling a half ton just because they have that name...
