The only trim that comes with power deplorable running boards is the Platinum. But HD payload pkg is not available with Platinum trim.

However, Darling Wife is a little ole lady crippled with arthritus. She can manage to climb into our Lariat SuperCrew using the optional cab steps and the standard hand hold on the A-pillar.

Another possibility is to get the Lariat without cab steps, and then have the dealer install the Platinum cab steps.

Just to confuse the issue, you CAN get Reg Cab and SCab configurations with over 2000# payload without the HD Payload option. Mine is close to 2100# with MaxTow.

But the truck's suspension is soft and the tires are P-rated. When loaded up to the legal limit, the truck bounces, sways and floats too much. Of course there are after-market solutions: Heavy-duty shocks, RAS/Air bags/Super Springs, LT-metric tires. But it's easier and cheaper just to get the HD Payload option if it's available in the configuration you want.

Lots of good advice and information in the replies.
But I didn't see any correct responses to this question.
The EB will tow this in the Rockies.
It will NOT maintain speed.
But I bet you will be very surprised at the power and speed it does maintain. I traveled to NE OK with my 7200# wet trailer a month ago and it will pull up any of their hills, it just won't do it at 60-65 MPH.

Interesting because mine pulls my 8500 lb fiver up Franconia Notch in NH at 60 mph with no problem. I even accellerated to 60 from 45 at an uphill merge of I91 and I93. And that was before the LMS Tow Tune.

You forget to pull the anchor in? I drag 9500+ up 6% few mile hills at whatever speed cruise control is on.

Your elevation there is less than 2000 foot where as he is talking upwards of 10-12k foot elevation like Independance Pass and such out West. Even with a turbo it has to have air to suck in meaning you will not get the full boost in very high elevations which the little V6 needs to perform well.

Here is a list of mountain passes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ocky_Mountains

I cannot wait till next year when we go out West to see myself how it performs with the 5er on the back.

I guess I'll stand corrected.
I probably could have maintained 65 MPH if I had kept my foot in it and let it drop down to 4th or 3rd.

oh, and for the record, 5th and 6th gears are OVERDRIVE gears. 4th is your money gear.
