We are not sure on the terminology of the links (do they start from the end or from the bar?) but we have 7 links fully loose that you can wiggle

This is my bro's 2014 HDPP Max Tow 157. Tows like a mini Super Duty

Though it is shocking how much boost it runs towing. Anywhere from 6-10lbs boost at any given moment

And this is how high I need to raise it in order to engage the 8th link.

Instructions call for starting at the 9th link, I did one bar and could not release the pin without raising it up like this. With 8 links though, everything falls into place.
I don't have the BO but I do have to raise my truck just as high as yours. Then when I take the bars off and lower the truck it sags quite a bit.

Yes it is from the loose end, and it is 7 loose links as well. Hopes are high that it will handle well and not sway above 65 MPH like the Husky did. In that case I had it properly set up, but now know that the bars were undersized for the increased TW.

Fingers crossed the dealer can figure out the steering issue that has been the bane of this truck.

It feels like not enough castor, which is supposed to return the steering to center, and if not enough it can do what the truck does, and hold a left or right pull.

One thing for sure, hooking up will be a lot quicker and cleaner without the greasy round bars and sway bar. What I also like is that unlike the Equalizer, no parts that can be lost, the pin is spring loaded, and stays in the head.

What a justification I'll just choose to not lose my cotter pins! I think they both seem great by design, but since I've only experienced the equalizer I'm not a fan of chain setups because they seem gangly and lose out on two potential friction sway prevention points.

I felt the same way about the chains, but according to BO, they are part of the 4 point control.

Main reason I chose this one, price. $449 for the hitch from Camping World. I could not find an Equalizer for that price, and Equalizer was my first choice, because of the cams. With tax and shipping, $514.

If you look closely at the bars of the SwayPro when they're under tension, they are torqued a little bit. When under load, this torque is what provides the sway control.

So, it would be smart for me to adjust my hitch so I have some good tension on those bars . We had that tension before I installed the Sumo Springs but , leaving the hitch as it was...we have far less tension required to level things out. It would be beneficial for me to get that tension back by adjusting the hitch right?

If you can release the bars without lifting the trailer they do not have enough tension on the bars. You will have to lift the trailer and the rear of your truck like in the pictures to get it to the right tension. That is how it is designed to work. Also make sure the trailer is level after putting it on the 9th link. It really needs to be level for the system to work. I thought I had mine set up right but it was slightly nose down and had to raise the hitch up one hole and it tows totally different for the better now. Proper adjustment is key for this hitch to work, but once it is set up you never have to mess with it again. Also I found that when releasing the chains it was easier to use my foot to tap on the release bar after I moved the cam from the lock. It can have a good spring to it.

That is where I am at. I will have to find out what I need to change on my hitch so I can get tension back on the bars............... Am I right in saying I have to add washers to get tension back in the bars?

You really need to find very level ground to do the adjustments. I thought I was on level ground on the initial setup but really was not. If that pic of the level shows it is nose down. Raise the hitch up one hole. No washers are needed you either raise or lower the hitch. Give Blue Ox a call. They have very good customer support if you hit a road block.
