Electric brake
i have 2010 f150 xlt...there is a plug in under dash for fast hook up for electris brake
i installed a prodigy 2 brake controller ...but it's not making the brakes ingage is there any other thing i have to do for this |
did you install the relay and fuse in the underhood fuse box??
|
The relay and fuse that you find in the glove box are not for the trailer brake controller, they are to power the battery charging/constant power circuit in the 7-pin trailer power connector. There are fuses for the TBS, #33 in the passenger compartment fuse box and #17 in the engine compartment fuse box. You could start by checking those.
Since you're using an after market controller, you need to make sure that the circuits match. Was there a converter cable that came with the Prodigy to allow it to plug into the truck's TBS plug? I would check the pins at your 7-pin connector to make sure that they match what they should be activating (lights, turn signal, etc). There is no need to 'flash' your truck's computer - that is only needed for the Ford OEM TBC. The after-market ones will/should work the brakes, but they are not 'integrated' |
Did you use the Tekonsha plug 'n play harness, or make your own? I spliced the Ford and Tekonsha bare-ended harness and matched them by function, not by color.
Do any of the P2 lights come on when you press the brake pedal? |

Hook the trailer up to another truck with a brake controller. If it works, the problem in your truck/controlller, if it doesn't work the problem is in your trailer.
Not very sophisticated troubleshooting, but that's a way to start. |
got it fixed
there was no wire from the plug in under the truck in the back to the trailer plug .. 2 feet of wire thats all it took thanks all for the responces Darryll |
