Default Eaz-Lift™ ReCurve™ R3 Weight Distributing Hitch with Sway Control, 1,000/10,000 lb

I have the hitch listed above.

I bought it the same time I bought our travel trailer, which is about 6500lbs dry, I guess we add a 800-1000lbs to that when travelling. We have a 2016 f150 3.5eb, 4x4 Max towing pack. Dry weight of truck is 5250lbs, plus people and dogs (725lbs), full tank (226lbs), Bikes etc (300lbs) - 6501lbs + trailer and gear 7500lbs - GCVW around 13000lbs. GCWR is 16900lbs so we are well within spec for truck.

I am not "super" impressed with this hitch, I think we get more sway that I should expect, so I am considering changing it out.

So two questions.
1. Anyone out there have this hitch? Had any trouble setting it up? or got any tips on setting it up?

2. Has anyone got a better suggestion? (I'd prefer not just to here go and buy a $2500 hitch)

Thanks in advance.

I think I am going with the Equalizer E4 for the same reason, sway. I won’t know till at least later in the spring whether it gets rid of all the sway. I looked at the recurve and one thing that stopped me was it looks like because the way the “brake” is you have to back in at the same angle that you unhooked at which is not always possible.

6500lb dry means at least 8000lb loaded...you are being highly optimistic thinking you are only adding 1000lbs to it. So that means 1000lb of hitch weight (again optimistic).

If you load 725+300=1025lbs into the truck (the fuel is included in the "dry" weight), then that means you need over 2000lb of payload. No hitch is going to solve this problem.

I had a Eaz lift hitch and a Reese hitch then bought a Blue Ox hitch and I was not happy with sway control until I bought a equalizer hitch E4. I wish I bought it first, I would've saved a lot of money. It works great.

So u weren't happy with your blue ox. I ask as we're upgrading tt and I'm looking at the blue ox with 1000lb bars for our new tt, 5700 lbs dry so prob close to 7000lbs loaded with what we carry in the tt.

I have a 2016 F150 and use the Blue Ox with 1000lb. bars. 6500 lb. dry, just the 2 of us so 7700 lbs. loaded. Nothing in the bed of the truck but an eaz e up.

The Blue Ox works well but I hate the chains when you are hitching and unhitching. You really need to watch your hands. I do still get sucked over by big rigs which can be a bit unnerving at times. I have towed trailers for over 30 years and am use to it. Over the past 3-4 years I have really looked into a Propride 3P hitch and have heard nothing but great reviews. Expensive yes, but I ordered one yesterday because I want the extra protection. It looks like after you master the hooking up and unhooking learning curve it sets up easier and no chains. Will tow more like a 5th wheel.
