I would advise that if you, or others you a driving with, like more comfort, then yes, get the HDPP.

The strange thing is on the Canadian build it site for Ford. I see no way of building it with HDPP, with either the 3.5 Eco or the 5 L? Strange.
Further to the tow question Ford has beefed up the frames for the 2018s, is this too increase Payload or were there problems towing or hauling with the present frame? Thanks for the help.

Contact a dealer to build and quote this for you. A dealership that also owns or handles fleet trucks will be more prepared to answer your questions. A truck specialist salesperson is best; many retail sales people will have no idea what you are talking about. My HDPP truck was originally a Canadian truck from Terrebonne Ford, Terrebonne, QC. They have HDPP trucks in stock on their website: http://www.windowsticker.forddirect....uI3FzdzRv3A%3D

Thanks for the detailed information I think that you can not get the HDPP with the 302a package. At least up here.

If you switch the rear end to a 3.73 rear end it should allow you to add HDPP I will have to check but I think my truck is a 302a with HDPP and I'm in Canada

For what you're wanting to do with the truck, get the HD package. Even if you have to order the truck, it's worth the wait to get it right the first time. There are two proven old adages that apply here:
1) Buy once, cry once.
2) Do it right or do it twice.

What kind of MPG penalty would you pay for the 3.73 axle? 99% of my driving is on flat rural highways @ 98 kph (aprox. 60 mph).

With my truck fully loaded almost maxed out gvwr with hi side boxes and a material rack I get between 13-15 L per 100 @ 100-110 km/h 3.5 with 10 speed Say something about this photo

It shouldnt be much with the new 10 speed. Its got a very tall 10th gear that helps make the 3.73 act more like a 3.31 or 3.55 on the highway compared to the old 6 speed trucks.
