He said the new tire's diameter was about the same as the stock tire.

Just came back from Woodward Dream Cruise, I got 13MPG with my F350, 6.2, SCREW towing a 2700lb trailer loaded with a 4200LB car, average speed up and back was 77 MPH. Towed like a dream, I wouldn't have done it in my F150

Hear this Ford - Twin turbo 5.0 for Super Duty. 550TQ 450-475HP. That would hit the 3/4 ton sweet spot.

I get about 10 towing a 5000# trailer with an EB. I don't know how you got 13. My dad's 2500 HD Chevy with 6.0 gets about 13 empty.

Why are you towing anything at 77MPH?

Most trailer tires are max speed rated for 65....Anything above that is asking for a blowout.

Just because you can do it ....doesn't make it right. Just look at Bruce Jenner...

The 6.2 is not as god at the Eco at towing period. Look at the power curves in the f150 or f250. Of course a 3/4 is more stout but many find it annoying when then power can't move a load without revving. Same issue the 5.0 has.

So to the op, your wLlet may limit you but sounds like the Eco spoiled you. So maybe an f150 with options and mods to tow?
