2311 lbs seems low for a 2WD reg cab HDPP. On the post your payload thread there are 4WD reg cab HDPPs with more than 2900 lbs payload rating.

I would trust the numbers listed on the door stickers of your truck long before I would ever even listen to the sales department. For your family's safety and piece of mind, stick at or under the numbers that are and will be calculated.

Based on your numbers given:

GVWR = 7000
Actual scaled weight of the truck = 5200

GVWR minus the scale weight = 1800.....AKA: available payload.

One follow up question regarding you weighing the truck, was anyone or thing in it while being weighed? If you a child, spouse, dog, groceries, etc. were in it, deduct that weight and add that to your actual, usable payload.

So, with the information that you've provided here is a general calculation of about how much a reasonable trailer ready to tow will weigh for you.

Payload - family weight - dog - weight distribution hitch - misc. cargo = Reasonable tongue weight for the truck.

Reasonable tongue weight for the truck / .13 = Maximum loaded, ready to travel trailer weight.

Let's put these in numbers:
1800 - 800 - 130 - 100 - 50 = 720

720 / .13 = 5538 loaded trailer weight.

Also, download this Weight Distribution Spreadsheet to help you figure out what size trailer you can take.
Interesting my payload rating is 1,860 and I have the 7,000 GVWR 2017 XL STX Package Super Crew 4x4 5 1/2' bed 3.5L Eco Boost Max Tow Package. So if I subtract the 1860 from the 7,000 would the actual scale weight of my truck be 5,140 pounds? Thanks

Should be close, unless you added running boards, tonneau cover, bigger tires, toolbox, or anything like that. Everything you add to or put in your truck comes away from the payload.

A 150 with a 2900 lb payload? I seriously doubt that.

My 2016 F150 scab 4x4 5.0l XLT long bed is 2603 pounds for your info. So a 2wd can get to 2900 pounds.

A stripped down, RC 141" wheelbase HDPP truck has a max payload of 3230 lbs.

WOW! I have a '11/350 we use to pull our 5th with, and it "only" has a payload of about 3250 (have to go look to give you the precise # but that's real close). Now this is a heavily optioned CCLB/4WD, but still 3000+ in a 150 is remarkable to say the least.
What rear axle are they using in those HDPP's? I know about the special wheels (why didn't they just go to an 8 lug??) but is the axle a built up 8.8 or a 9.75?

FYI hitch, pin, and TWR on the f150 is limited by more than just the payload rating. There is no industry standard that manufacturers use to set GVWR, no performance or handling requirements. For TWR there is j2807 and this is why the hdpp trucks don’t standout on the TWR chart. A truck alone running at GVWR is one thing, a truck running at GVWR with 1100lbs hitch or 1500lbs pin with a trailer in tow is completely different. The dynamics change drastically.
