Class V Extra Duty Hitch for 2018 F-150
#21
If OP doesnt come back we have either shamed him away or it was just a troll trying to get people upset. Troll sort of makes sense - I mean he picked the worst F150 Trim for towing and then said he was going to load it down /w the max trailer rating. If this is the case well done, you got me.

Waiting on the dealership to send me a picture of the capacity tag. I am going to be very disappointed if it is nowhere near the advertised capacity. If it is, then I will consider going back to GMC where the tags are close to the advertised amount, regardless of trim.
I suppose the massive sunroof does add a lot of weight in addition to a 36gal fuel tank. My weights are within the capability if it actually has just over a ton in payload. If not then yes, it is too much. First time dealing with a Ford (besides my 1988 FSuperduty).
You guys are still missing the point, though, my question was how you all liked the factory hitch and if you knew of any other, beefier hitches that were out there. I clearly stated that I wasn't looking for a Class V hitch to boost tow ratings rather, I wanted something stronger for the sake of it.
And yes, my experience (confirmed by Air Lift Engineers) shows that air bags combined with WD does too much to alleviate TW. I tried WD hitches on their own however the truck handled better without it (yes, everything was set up properly with a scale).

Well, I just got the picture and payload is 1413lbs...
GVWR is 7050lbs.
These numbers are SIGNIFICANTLY less than my comparable Sierra 1500 (1970lbs and 7600lbs).
Not very happy with how Ford markets their trucks right now. Not saying the trucks are junk, just saying their advertising is very misleading.

Now....you may want to apologize to some of those that were honestly trying to help you out. Just saying.....

I still know what my experiences are with air bags and weight distribution hitches. I still know that, if the truck actually had the advertised payload, that I would be within its limits. And I still know what my GMC was actually rated for versus what I was hauling.
Never in a million years did I think there would be a 30% difference in advertised payload vs actual payload. Never.

I have nothing to apologise for.
