And platinum features are heavy - sun roof - power running boards - power heated cooled seats - it all adds up. I am not trying to lie to you, but I have basically the same truck you do, your payload is going to be a lot closer to 1550 than 2030.
Take a look at the brochure where it speaks to payload capacity. It SPECIFICALLY states the LIMITED trim (which is not available with the Max Trailer Package and has all those fancy features) and it says payload is 1,690lbs.

It's time to give up. Even though he's coming from GMC he thinks he's got it all figured out and doesn't want to hear the truth.

Buddy of mine has a 2017 Limited, his payload is 1,365. The Limited GVWR is actually lower than the other trucks at 6750 so he takes an even larger payload hit. I am not sure where the brochure is getting the 1690 number because they also list 1430 as the limited payload.
Keep in mind that number is the MAX payload for that configuration, I would guess my buddies went from 1430 to 1365 because he added the optional 36gal fuel tank.

Regardless I will do my standard beer bet that there is no way your trucks payload is 2030. You up for it?

I do not, ever, tow outside of the manufacturer's specifications. 8,000lb backhoe + 3,000lb trailer = 11,000lbs. Well below max rating of 13,000lbs.

Payload: 230lb me + 45lb hitch + 1,300lb TW + 200lbs Misc Equipment = 1,775lbs. Well below the max rating of 2,080lbs.

Please, for the love of God, tell me how I am exceeding the capabilities of America's Best Selling Truck.

If you are getting a Platinum F150, the payload is 1661 or lower, in most cases if you get 1583 you are lucky. You are overweight for a Platinum. It is not the right truck, PERIOD, Whether you like it or not, we are just being honest with you. You will never find an F150 Platinum with 2080# of payload, is not going to happen. The included hitch is more than adequate for what the truck is designed to tow, if anything get the Max Tow with a 1200/12000 rating.

Many factory hitches leave a lot to be desired so I don’t blame you for wanting something better built. I don’t think you’ll find a class 5 to fit the 18 f150 unless you go custom made.

People that tow wrong don’t ever want to hear they are doing it wrong. Take a look at your door jamb sticker that will tell you your actual allowable numbers.

Like others have said, there is no doubt you are overloading your trucks capacity with the weight of the trailer. That said if you use a weight distribution hitch it will help a lot. Anybody that just ties there damn load correctly, has trailer lights that work, uses safety chains, and has functioning trailer brakes is ahead of most people. A lot of it depends on what you are towing, a tractor or backhoe will tow a little easier than a travel trailer that catches more wind. Also speed, towing that load at 50 mph is going to be safer than 70 mph.

Dude, stop looking at a sales brochure and look at the black and yellow payload sticker on your driver door jam. It will say “max payload never to exceed XXXX”

That is your trucks payload... not what is listed in the sales brochure. The sales brochure lists the MAXIMUM rating at its MAXIMUM configuration. As in, the best possible setup to achieve a certain number.

Post up your yellow sticker nunber and let these guys eat crow... OR, educate yourself as to why you are overloaded and don’t even realize it

YOU obviously don't understand the first thing about airbags. They do absolutely nothing to redistribute weight. Zero. All they do is take the squat out of a heavily loaded truck. They do a good job at that, I have them on all three trucks in my sig., but they do NOT push the tongue weight fore/aft like a WDH does. I'd give $100 if you could demonstrate that someone officially speaking on behalf of airlift said that airbags negate the need for a WDH.
Why don't you buy another GM product and get off this site?

I anticipate the OP will return. He'll thank everyone for clarifying the cargo and towing limits of a Platinum edition F-150, and for explaining the difference between airbags and weight distribution hitches, which he previously thought served the same purpose. And how wonderful it is to come on to a forum and learn new and important things from people who have experience in such matters, whether they are professionals or lay people.

Then he will apologize for his abrupt, know-it-all attitude and lack of humility....In 3, 2, 1......

Aaaaand he changed his original post. Thankfully saved forever in the quotes.

Bye Douche
