Default Can I safely tow this?

I am looking for the weight police, the tire trashers and diesel doters. Can i safely tow a 2013 KEYSTONE SPRINTER COPPER CANYON 273FWRET 5th wheel travel trailer. My truck is a 2013 XLT with max tow and max payload. My sticker says I can carry 2731 lbs including passengers, payload etc. Only two of us, about 400 lbs for passengers. I have the LT245/75R17" load range E tires, 3:73 axle and 8' bed.
  1. Shipping Weight 7791
  2. Carrying Capacity 2449
  3. Hitch 1440
  4. Length 30' 11
  5. Width 8'
  6. Height 12'
  7. Fresh Water 47
  8. Waste Water 32
  9. Gray Water 32

That's quite a load. I suppose you could and some will say you could but I would rather tow that much with a much higher tow rating than what you have there even if you had the 4.10. The weight adds up quick when you start adding gear, water, holding tanks filled up etc. Especially if your towing in the mountains that's a lot of weight. Maxing out to close the limit is not much fun especially towing in the mountains

Our 5th is almost the same dry/pin weight and I only have 2171 lb payload with a crew/4x4 and I can still stay within all my ratings. I have no reservations in saying the truck handles it comfortably. It is much better towing than our previous 7500 lb (loaded) TT. No comparison. If you don't mind giving up your bed and the different backing characteristics, I would highly recommend the 5th.

As far as I'm concerned, the 5th setup seems much safer, as long as you can stay within your weights. The F150 brakes are as big or bigger than the early 2k HD's and you have the rear axle rating and E tires to handle the pin weight. With the stiffer HD payload suspension, it handles great. Go for it and pack sensibly. Should not be a problem.

Default Dry pin weight

I have never owned a 5th wheel trailer, so may need some advice.

Besides the weight of the of the 5th wheel hitch mounted in the truck, is the dry pin weight all I need to worry about, or is there a rule of thumb that you add XXX amount of lbs to the dry pin weight for stuff inside the trailer???

I was trying to look for a trailer that had a pin weight about 50% of my max load capacity. Whether that is a good target or not, I don't really know, but that is where my search for 5th wheels focused.

Ford says my tow capacity is 11,300lbs with my setup, and this rigs comes in at 10,240lbs or about 1000 under the limit, allowing for passengers, water, propane, food, dishes, clothes etc.

Hook it up and head out. I would have absolutely no problem pulling that setup with your truck.

Yes you can. In fact I'll be doing almost precisely the same within 2 weeks. My 5'r is a little heavier. You will be very close on your ratings, but if you watch how you load it all you'll be fine.

That is why I said I suppose you could. Just saying maxing it out is not fun. That's a lot of tongue weight too.

The guy has 2700+ lbs of payload and shows he will come in at 2100 or so loaded. That's 75% of maxed out. He's more than fine. That damn setup of his has more payload than my 250, wowzers.
