Read it again. And this time don't ignore that tiny word "max".

Yes, 2.7 eco with the 3.55 axle 4x4 145" WB can tow a trailer that grosses up to 7,600 pounds, PROVIDED it is "properly equipped". But properly equipped means having either the 53A or 53C towing package, that includes an auxiliary tranny cooler. The 53b receiver hitch does not include the increased cooling capacity, so it cannot tow a trailer that weighs more than 5,000 pounds without overheating the tranny. The 2017 F-150 Order Guide says:

"Class IV Trailer Hitch: Towing capacity up to 5,000 pounds on ... 2.7L EcoBoost Engine"

Ford was working on the 2018 order guide when my 07/01/2017 version went to press. So my copy of the 2018 order guide now says "towing capacity up to TBD on ...2.7L EcoBoost engine." Perhaps it changed later on to replace "TBD" with a weight, but I doubt it changed much from the 2017 specs.

Great info and I appreciate it the feedback. Is the auxiliary trans cooler an available upgrade?

Not exactly, but any decent mechanic can add it. Any good oil-to-air (OTA) heat exchanger would work, but I'd opt for the OEM parts.

Here is just the OEM heat exchanger for 2017 F-150 2.7L that mounts in front of the radiator:

I'll bet the 2018 is the same part.

In addition, you'd need the plumbing parts to intercept the ATF as the return line exits the bottom of the radiator and heads back to the tranny. Route the new line to the inlet of the OTA heat exchanger. Then run a new return line from the outlet of the heat exchanger to connect back up with the original return line that's going back to the tranny.

Warning: After you complete this mod, test the flow that's going back into the tranny to be sure you have not decreased the flow too much. On my '99.5 F-250 with 4R100 tranny, you had to have a minimum of one gallon per minute at idle RPM going back into the tranny, else your mod reduced the ATF flow too much. I don't know the specs for the 10-speed automagic tranny in the 2018 F-150, but you need to find out before you begin that mod.

2018's don't have an aux transmission cooler, not even with Max Tow. All of the 2.7L and 3.5L appear to have the same cooling, in every available tow and hitch package. The 2.7 may be different than 3.5, but all 2.7 are the same and all 3.5 are the same according to the 2018 towing guide.

I suspect a goof in production of that table.

The 2018 F-150 Order Guide says for Max Trailer Tow Pkg 53C:
"Includes:
☼Auxiliary transmission oil cooler (not included on 99B engine)." 99B is the basic V6 engine.

And for the regular trailer tow pkg 53A it says the same thing.

So the table you posted is correct only for F-150s with the base V6 engine

The latest 2018 Order Guide has removed the reference to the aux trans cooler in the 53A and 53C packages. Additionally, the 53C package requires the 3.5L EcoBoost so I don’t think that part of your argument is valid.

My 2018 with Max Tow does not have an aux trans cooler.

You're right. I'm not a dealer person, so I rely on my local dealer to provide such things. That puppy is 42 pages long, so I hate to ask him to print it out more often than about once a year. My copy of the 2018 F-150 order guide was a pre-production version dated 1 July. The one you linked to is several months newer. So thanx for providing that link and keeping me straight.
