keep us posted justjimmy. I'm glad someone isn't waiting for ford to find a fix. Bought the ecoboost to make pulling the tt enjoyable bbut the axle wrap just pi**es me off. And am not about let the dealer take my truck for a week just to tell me they couldn't fix it. I think that when they extended the leaf springs they should have made them wider to help with deflection. But probably to expensive for ford to provide upgraded suspension.

The rear springs already seem to be pretty wide to me. Actually, they seem the widest and thickest in it's class. I have a 5.0 supercrew and I have towed up to 5500 lbs with it with no shudder. I do have a set of Super Springs that seem to keep things nice and tight back there. I don't seem to have a problem pre and post springs. Not to hijack the thread, but I wonder if it is axle wrap some are experiencing or something else? Maybe this mod will help.

No one is 100% sure what is causing the shudder however; all the "smart guys" on these forums seem to point more and more to axle wrap. It seems to make sense but again, no one really knows.

The straw that broke my camel's back is the fact that I will be putting a level on the front and I occasionally tow 8,000 pounds and I DON'T want to tow "nose up" when I'm loaded.

I'm hoping the Roadmaster resolves the shudder issue as well as the potential nose up towing.

I just don't want to wait for Ford to figure it out and all you guys keep taking your trucks in only to find out they don't know how to fix it.

According to Road Master, they say it will NOT void the warranty and GUARANTEES it will resolve axle wrap.

I guess I'll be the one that finds out.

Danelizer: did you have the shudder prior to installing the active suspension and if you did, did it help?

Interested to see if danelizer had the shudder before the install.

Took a road test with the shop foreman on the dealership my truck is at. I think in regards to the low speed shudder he and I both agree it is axle wrap.

I have had the shim and new transmission mount done with no improvement. It is currently getting the newer/better? springs put on and should be done tomorrow or friday. I'll report back the findings. Currently, this is all Ford has in store for this particular problem. So, if this doesnt work....

I am confident that this would resolve the low speed shudder. However, currently, I cant justify spending $400 to fix something Ford should under warranty.

Please keep us posted with your progress.

Nope. Never had the shudder. My 2011 Screw was built in Dec 2010 and I bought it in Oct. 2011. Have almost 7,000 on it now without any problems. I've towed my 6,800 pound travel trailer twice now. Once without the RoadMaster and once with. The truck handles so much better with it. Really tightened it up. I also did a few fast off the line accelerations and it never hopped or shuddered. The truck also has the 5.0, 3:73 rear gears and 20" wheels.

My SCAB was also built in December 2010 and I bought it in February 2011. I have the 5.0L 145" wheelbase with 3.55 gears with 20's as well.

jimmy,

Did a little research for you.

Roadmaster has a 30 day return policy if it does not meet your expectations, no questions asked. I talked to 2 different dealer/installers near me and they said they would refund my purchase price, less the install cost. The both quoted me 2 hours labor at $80/hr.

But, it gets better. I called Roadmaster directly and spoke to Nolan. A super nice, friendly and very knowledgeable guy. I explained the 5-10 MPH shudder and he agreed it was axle wrap. He was sure this product would resolve it, again, if not he would refund the price, this is also applicable for self installs as well, which is awesome.

Now a note to the Supercrew guys. He said for the first time in over 20 years Ford has changed their springs which in turn affected their design, again this supposedly only applies to the Supercrew of any wheelbase. They need a different piece to connect to the axle and he said they only have a few left and to re-order them takes a month or so. Please be very specific with your vehicle config. if ordering.

My truck is in for the 3rd time with this and is currently being worked on by an engineer from Ford. I am seriously contemplating this as a fix to the low speed shudder. I want to work with my dealer and see if they will help me with the cost.

Again, if you call, ask to speak with Nolan and tell them Drew recommended you there, we had a great conversation and he is well aware of this issue with our trucks and eager to solve it.
