To airbag or not

Looking for some thoughts on airbags to reduce the bobble head effect on secondary roads. Highways I don’t get any bounce, but secondary roads, I get a faint bobble.

Should I start with swapping out the rear shocks on my 2017 King Ranch? If so, what do people recommend?

I also read about putting beefier leaf springs?

Start with the shocks. The OEM, at least on the 15-16, were horrible for the bouncing. If you then want to firm up the ride, you can bag it, or sumo it. However, I have found that when you do firm up the ride with bags or sumosprings, the empty ride gets a bit jouncy when coming to a quick stop. When the nose dips, the back will bounce a couple times. With weight though, well worth the empty jouncing. Super smooth and solid.

Thanks!! What aftermarket shocks are people recommending? Bilstein?

I love my Sumo Springs!!! Especially with the different types of loads I now move and even empty! They set up exactly to what I need...with no work on my part. yea....I'm a bit lazy ;)

Asking around for some pricing on the Bilstein 5100s...

This also looks like a pretty easy install.

I have only had Bilsteins, so can't comment on other brands, but they are a lot better than the OEM ones. Try Stage 3 or Autoanything for them. Last I heard they are out of stock at a lot of places.

Try amazon also for the Bilsteins. They were the cheapest when I bought them last month for my 2013.

Thanks Pugga! So far, Zach@RealTruck has been the best price I have found.

By all means, change all four dampers on your truck to the Bilstein 5100, and for your soft rear spring rate, consider the Roadmaster Active Suspension.

You feel the Active Suspension made the biggest difference for you?

I was going to start with just the rears on the 5100s and go from there.
