93 F-150 not enough power for pulling
I have a 1993 F-150 xl model 5.0 engine it auto trans and 3.73 gears in it. I originally swapped out the hearing because it had a hard time going up hills empty, after I did the swap it ran great empty I just tryed to tow a boat home and it was like it dident have enough power to pull the bass boat up the hills I lost speed everyhill the truck wouldn’t gain any speed going up the hills can I do anything to help with that?

Your truck has 185hp. I dont think there is a whole lot that will fix that and be worth doing instead of just buying a newer truck.

This. Yep, a newer 5.4L Triton is an affordable option and will run circles around your pushrod 5.0. an older 2V will be a lot more power. 3V will be a huge difference with about double the power you currently have.

Let's talk about the boat you were towing. How big?
That 5.0 is probably pretty tired. 3.73 gears should be helping a lot...but it sounds like the motor needs some work.
unless it's like a 25 foot boat or bigger. Then yeah, new truck.

Truck is at least 4000lbs, boat another 1200-1700, plus gear and gas, probably trying to move at least 5500lbs with an engine that WAS rated at 270ft-lb but is not even close if the engine hasn't been rebuilt or was owned until last year by an old codger that never went over 35mph. Through an E40D.
184hp... maybe 120 to the wheels in this truck's twilight? This truck qualifies to be registered as an antique. Not shaming, just pointing out it's asking a lot of a very old truck that was *just* good enough to pull that boat in it's heyday.

What size tires are on the truck? You can gain a little gear help by having a smaller size (unless of course they are already small)
losing some weight is always a help too. If you've got some unnecessary weight in the bed that can be shed, that'd help.

My dad had a 92 F150 5.0 (Supercab, 4x4, auto) that he pulled a 19' Dyna Track with a 200 Merc for a few years. It did OK, but left a lot to be desired. It was one of the reasons he upgraded to his 02 with the 5.4. It's amazing how much better it pulls than his 92 did. In fact, my 03 Ranger FX4 (4.0, 5 speed, 4.10s) pulled the boat just as well as (if not better) than the 92 F150, although it didn't tow as well from a control standpoint.

I'd say rebuild that 5.0 with new components from rock auto, make sure everything's clean and not worn. May need a bore/hone, new pistons, check the main bearings and rod bearings, cam for wear, etc.
