Guess I should have weighed in on the original question.
In my opinion, yes, you will notice the difference.
But it won't be the difference between "white knuckle" and "comfortable".

Frontal area and side area make the biggest difference. at that much weight, the weight itself is insignificant. Get a good WDH and keep your wife happy.

He'll be fine. I have practically the same truck except I have slightly more payload. I'm towing a 6100 pound trailer that is probably about 7100-7200 loaded. While I'm not no f250 when towing, it tows pretty good for a half ton.

I'd recommend trying it. Your in a better position than most by getting to test tow. I wanted to do that but never was allowed.

I have a 28' outback,5250 dry weight,I pull it dry most of the time but filled up tank and drove 200 miles to last camping spot last year,no problems wet or dry ,2 sway bars recommended by husky for this trl length
