3.7l towing 20ft boat
Hey guys lookig for a little input I have a 2011 f150 2wd with the 3.7l 3.73 rear end at least I think axle code 26. Anyways I am going to be purchasing a 18 foot searay bowrider 1996. Should be right around or just north of 3k loaded. Since my vehicle does have an open diff looking to see if anyone else out there has a similar set up I would rather not get stuck on a boat launch since that is really my only concern. Not having the power or traction to pull up. I do have a leveling kit with some toyo open countries 285/70r17 also have max tow package. Any help is appreciated. I also live in northern ca boat ramps are pretty much all concrete/asphalt.

I've been towing 3k lbs for a while with a minivan. I can't even begin to fathom why your truck wouldn't be just fine. And with 285s and the additional tongue weight on the rear, are you really worried about traction? I'm relatively new to these trucks, but this seems like worrying over nothin'!

Only curious because I have the off road cluster as well, i know completely useless on 2wd, but it does give out pitch and yaw reading. And my truck had big time struggles backing up my aunt's 20%grade driveway under it's own power with no weight but me. Don't want to get to the bottom of a ramp spin no tires and go nowhere because it can't handle it. Plus everywhere I read it's people towing with Lsd rears not open.

Yes, but backing up a hill means all the weight is transferring to the front and you are losing traction on the rear drive axle.
Think about the boat ramp. The only time you should be concerned at all is when you are hitched up, boat on trailer, and pulling back up the ramp. Under these conditions the hill is helping to transfer weight to the rear, the tongue weight is adding weight to the rear, and both of this should increase your traction. Apply power smoothly and you should be just fine.
I dunno. Maybe the open diff is really that crummy, but I don't think so. I'm sure someone else will chime in and educate both of us if so.

Well it does make me feel better that my v6 open diff can make it up a mud trail while my buddies 16 tundra trd pro with Cooper mud terrains has to go in 4wd😂. Screw it if I can't go up I'll just get back in the boat and act like I'm launching 😁
