3.5 EB low end power

That and the Direct injection helps get them spooled as well as they dont have to get the fuel in the cylinder while the valve is open. They can inject it whenever they want.

I think the 2017 peaks at 3500 rpm, but its 470 ft-lbs. I bet it makes just as much torque as the old motor at 2500 though.

Well it was a bit more than that since I put in taller gearing. I had planned to replace the 4.10 gears with 3.73 to get better fuel economy, but blowing the spiders out forced me to do it. I had ordered replacement spiders for the trak-lok it had, and when I got the parts, the spiders were missing. I don't remember where I got the parts from, but when I contacted them to ask where the spiders were, they said they goofed up and don't have any, so instead they sent me the entire trak-lok unit! The spiders were about $300 for the repair kit, and the trak-lok was about $450, so I made out OK. Replaced all the gears myself in my garage and they came out perfect, no whine, and solved the leaking front pinion problem too.
I don't recommend hopping an axles on a 1 ton to anyone, it is hard work to replace the gears, especially trying to tighten the front pinion nut, which is 350ft/lbs. I had to buy a torque multiplier and a crap load of adapters to get it to work. I had to go from 1/2" to 1" and back down again to get it to work, then calculate in the losses for each adapter.
Since it was 4WD I also had to replace the front gears. I don't know which was worse, the front or the rear.

Here's a 2017 3.5EB 10 speed that 5 star dyno'd. Looks like peak torque was around 2600 rpm. The 87 octane is nearly 325 ft/lbs at 2000 rpm

I think my old '02 Silverado 5.3 had a max torque of 325 at about 4100 RPM. I can't wait to fully load the travel trailer this summer and see how the truck pulls it up a few mountains. First I need to put some LT tires on it though.

Bet it didn't on the dyno. That's a different measurement. Wheels to the road.

I'm sure you are correct and it did a nice job of towing so it should be interesting when I load the trailer up and start up one of our windy mountain roads with the 3.5 EB.

You won't be able to wipe the smile off of your face man. It will be a night and day difference.
