I was slightly nose high on trailer so I’ve since dropped it on the hitch and am still dialing in, but I imagine the truck handles pretty good with all that weight back on the front axle. For comparison, empty I have 3150lb on front axle.

I guess it’s simply down to how you adjust your WDH. Mine is setup as per equil-i-zer specs, between halfway and uncoupled front axle height.

Note that the truck was full load with passagers in.

True. I’m sure the passenger load is at least halfway distributed onto the front axle, but that still puts me a good 300-400lb less than you... time to get back to the hitch! I’m running the E2 trunnion and have 6 washers per the manual’s recommended install... I actually reduced it to 5 washers, which gave a much smoother ride but introduced more of that wallowing effect.

The HDPP has so much available payload that you can really play the numbers game. Your average 1/2 ton you need to crank the crap out of those bars just to be in spec but with our HDPP I was within all weight ratings with my 7500lb camper without WDH! (All but Ford’s recommendation for any trailer over 5000lb requiring WDH.)

Ill get it dialed in before the summer is over

I noticed that too. I had to tight the WDH a lot more with my 2016 5.0 standard payload to get within equal i zer adjustment range. I had to do the math 3 times with my 2019 HDPP because The WDH needs to be a lot looser to get similar results.

Properly set up, the WDH should return up to 100% of the front axle weight from when unhitched. The closer to 100% the better. The trailer being level or just slightly nose down usually puts it spot on with the WD.

This is indeed the setting folks report to be the most convenient to drive. I actually have about 65% weight back to the the front axle and pleased with it.

On our way back, we average 11.5 mpg (previously 10 mpg). Less 310 lbs and slower winds.

I think Hdpp is also no longer available in Canada on the 2020 lariat as per build and price ford site.

Correct. In 2019, Lariat trim 500A allowed to add HDPP package. In 2020, the 500A trim is no more available, so the HDPP with it. HDPP is now only available in XLT trim. My 2019 Lariat HDPP is now the last of the Mohicans.
