It would be nice, but all the 2015+ 3.5 trucks are basically increased GVWR with or without. Payloads are the same or better than the older max tow trucks.

I think of it more like trucks 2014 and earlier without Max tow lost GVWR since mechanically they were generally the same. If you got a truck with factory 20" wheels and no max tow package they had the same Axle ratings and springs as max tow but lower GVWR. I dont think there was any reason for it other than thats what they decided to rate it at.

I believe the reduction should be caused by some kind of reinforcement they had to add in order to increase the towing capacity.
I really would like to see a photo comparison between the 2017 and 2018 hitch to know if they reinforced the hitch.
Some people were reporting that the hitch was not strong enough and the WD would twist it on heavy tongue situations.....

Right, I just mean why would some trucks gain payload and some lose if the changes were across the board. Maybe the HD trucks were already using a heavier frame and so they were not effected by the update.
