For those who didn't have a fuse in the #24 slot were the pins for the fuse there? When I looked in the fuse box of my 2018 Screw STX there are clearly fuse pins in the #24 slot but no 30 amp fuse. I'm wondering if I just need to drop the fuse in or if it means there's no power to the connector for the TBC.

I found my answer in the TBC install manual. If there's a fuse in #24 it'll work. If there's no fuse in #24 but you can see the pins, install the 30-amp fuse that comes in the install kit and it'll work. If there's no fuse or no visible pins in slot #24 then it says to install the wire harness from Ford to run 12v power to the TBC.

When you say the pins are available or not, do you mean pins sticking out? Or pins that can be pushed in to? I just bought a 2018 rcsb xl with factory tow package and literally just installed the controller. I was scheduled to go in tomorrow for it to be activated but now I’m questioning if my truck has to have the fuse box upgrade 😔

On mine I could see metal pins inside the slot that the fuse could be pushed into. Other empty slots in my fuse box don't have the pins. I moved a 30 amp fuse from a different location and it clearly gripped the fuse. If you know anyone nearby with access to Forscan they could activate it for you rather than paying the dealer.

Yes I have read the entire thread, couple times. There are some conflicting responses in it. So my 2018 f150 truck has the tow package, and the #24 fuse in place. I have not verified that it has power on it but it should. Since I have the fuse from the factory, is forscan required after installing the oem tbc? Thanks

If the TBC was installed after you received the truck then yes you will need to enable it either at the dealer or via Forscan. By activating you are tell the Truck's software that TBC is installed.

The #24 fuse thing was the result of Ford not installing a fuse box in some F150's. By not having the fuse wiring at all could not plug in the factory TBC and have it work even if the software thought it was installed.

I purchased an '18 XLT that did not have the tbc from the factory. I did get it installed at dealer but they did not activate it. I did get my Forscan usb adapter in and using the Forscan thread enabled it and the appropriate gain control. Today I tested it and it does not seem to work when using the brake pedal. Gain is at 10 and I tried all permutations of hybrid, hydraulics and electric brake settings. It will brake if I manually apply on the TBC.

another thing is even though it does say trailer connected, it does not show the gain setting or miles travelled. That screen is blank. Adjusting gain on the TBC shows on the dic when pressed but then it goes blank again.

Any ideas?

Can you pint me in the direction of this manual?
