2018 F150 Factory Trailer brake controller question
#101
Bummer Dao. 2018 XLT owner here and my Tekonsha P3 plugged in and works fine, no factory re-flash needed is the reason i went aftermarket. Keep us posted on what you figure out. I noticed two Tekonsha Ford harness pigtail options. I assume you have the right part number from the Tekonsha website. Good luck.

Mario, with the fuse in place you should be fine with any of the controllers we have mentioned. The official part is the 006 but the older controllers will work too. They are all stamped with the same markings out of the box.
Lucky lucky man.....
I’m almost done going old school on mine. Gotta run the battery wires and the brake line. Even though I have the harness, until ford fixes the issue I’m avoiding the ECM all together.

Okay, I just received a call from the executive director of customer service up in Dearborn. They have a fix for my truck by my VIN. I think that it is the fuse block the the guys up in Ontario figured out.
In any case Ford is going to repair mine on their dime. I am in the process of scheduling the service now.
Its a a little bitter sweet as I put holes in my truck to run the aftermarket in preparation for a trip, but I will take the integrated TBC over the aftermarket.
I will keep you all posted.

Hey guys, new here. I thought I would add to what some have been finding. Not any new information that hasn't been said already, just a walkthrough of the issue on my '18 F150:

I also talked to two FORD dealers about the missing fuse #24 /& 12-volt for the brake controller and called the FORD's Customer Service (800-392-3673). The service manager at one of the dealers searched their database for any advisory on this issue and couldn't find one. FORD's Customer Service told me to take my truck to the dealer and ask them to install the trailer brake controller and if they diagnose that is is missing the 12-volt, theywill open up a case and provide financial support towards the issue. I have checked my fuse box and I don't have the fuse either, however (just between us) it is extremely hard for me to believe it. The regular charge for installing the breaker controller is about $250 ($120 parts + $130 labor). I will post in 1-2 weeks about the outcome.

Just confirmed with my dealer that they are going to install the JL3Z-14A068-E fuse panel. This was what the wonderful Expressway Ford guys did. I’m scheduled to have it installed on Monday or Tuesday. I will post the outcome, but I expect my results to be the same as what the folks at Expressway Ford found. A working TBC after all is said and done.
Dont know now if you will all be as fortunate, but my thoughts are the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I had to email and keep emailing until someone at Ford Corporate listened.
Keep pestering your dealers and send those emails. Maybe now with us sending our dealers the part number for the fuse block they will get the attention needed and they will put out a service bulletin.

Just to speed things along I just sent them the fuse panel part number so they don't spend a few days spinning their wheels while my truck sits in the service bay,

I would like to thank all the people involved on this thread for the information I needed to get my 2018 F150 STX 4X2 Trailer brake controller installed without the hassle of dealing with Ford Motor Company red tape and the great people at Karl Klement Ford in Decatur Texas who made it possible,.. After my purchase I was told by the dealership that the truck was not equipped with the wiring and fuse needed to install the factory brake controller, I truly believe that this was their first truck with this issue and did not know about the oversight Ford manufacturing mistake made with a few 2018 Trucks, I bought this truck with the intention to pull my car hauler, so I researched this issue and found others had the same problem such as “Lowlight010” who had a very informative video on this subject, I contacted James Statham the salesman who sold the truck to me and explained how important having this part installed was to me, James took the ball and ran with it, he pushed the issue with the right people who made the call to Ford Motor Company then made the decision to install the necessary components for the installation of the factory trailer brake...
Thanks to all who made this happen, its great when it all comes together.
