... If your truck came with the 7 pin connecter in the back from the factory your truck will most likely be wired and has the fuses in it to make it work........... I don't know if the factory brake controller for 2015 - 2018 are different. They may be, but I had no issue ordering it from my dealer.

My 2018 STX F150 had the towing package option which includes the hitch and 7 pin connector yet it did not have power to the trailer brake controller plug.
To my knowledge all original equipment trailer brake controller modules are the same for trucks from 2012 on to the present.
As I already mentioned I ordered mine from an eBay seller.

Software Deficiency
I Purchased a ford factory brake controller on amazon and i called dealership to get it installed and they are saying that they are having problem with other 2018 f150 brake controllers not working with computer., They are saying ford is working on a resolution, anybody else experience this?
First answer by service tech was the fuse box lacked wiring to position 30, which was where manual says to locate the connection. 3 days later, service manager says it is a software problem with Ford controller device not talking to the on board computer. Service manager says he consulted Ford to find a fix. I've been waiting.... waiting....

I took my 2018 F-150 to a different dealer today (as requested by Ford's Office of the Executive Director person) to have them install the TBC & Fuse panel. No go for a second time. For whatever reason, the fuse panel that has worked for others, kills my truck. My truck was manufactured in KANSAS CITY vs. DEARBORN. Anyway, their mechanic says, that is not the right fuse panel for my truck and he is going to get authorization from Ford's Office of the Executive Director person, to order a different fuse panel. My truck is going to stay at the dealer until they get the other fuse panel. on the bright side, the TBC is installed but of course doesn't work....
