That's the unloaded hitch weight. With a few options and depending on propane tanks and batteries, you will likely be over 800lbs on the hitch before you load anything in the trailer. Just FYI.

So as stated above, you will likely be about 1100 lbs with the WDH. Which leaves you 670lbs. Minus the 30-50lbs of extra stuff in the truck (you would be surprised) and then your extra weight above 150lbs. Then subtract your family. Load everything in the trailer. The bed will look clean.

I ended up talking my wife into a Lance 2185. It's 6000lbs GVWR - should pull MUCH easier and much less stressful! Now we have a few hundred extra pounds of payload to spare.

Hitch weight when loaded to 7,700 pounds gross trailer weight is about 1,100 pounds. Hitch weight when loaded to 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight is about pounds 880 pounds. So when "loaded for bear" you have 220 pounds more payload capacity available than with the heavier trailer. I guess you could call that a "few hundred" pounds.

But more likely is a wet and loaded bigger trailer at 7,000 pounds with 1,000 pounds hitch weight, compared to about 5,400 pounds gross trailer weight with ~800 pounds hitch weight for the 6k trailer. That still gives you back about 200 pounds of payload capacity compared to the heavier trailer. But with a 6k TT, it will still be very easy to overload your tow vehicle.

So plan on weighing the wet and loaded rig.
