2016 XLT Sport Pkg Tow Rating
#11
I have to think its like a clerical error or something. Doesnt the 2015 and 2017 sport not have the lower GCWR but the 2016 does?
Also, 2054 is solid. I would not worry too much about your maximum towing because chances are you will be limited by tongue weight with MOST trailers before GCWR, so even if your truck was rated for 12000 lbs the chances of being able to tow more than say 9000 lbs without exceeding some other capacity are low.

2015-no restriction for sport or special addition.
2016-restriction for sport package.
2017-restriction for special addition package.
It makes no sense. Normally tow rating variables depend on engine power, cooling and suspension components. Never an appearance package.
I went to Ford parts and looked up suspension and cooling components and could find no listing for a dedicated part for the "sport package". Nothing in the tire or wheel section was specific to "sport" package.
In the 2017 "build and price" you can build a vehicle with the tow package and sport and appearance package with no conflicts.
I'd use the available payload to dictate tongue weight and trailer weight.
'Cause it just don't add up boss.
