Default 2016 Ford OEM Trailer Brake Controller Installation

I have a 2016 F150 XLT Supercrew. I have the trailer package with hitch, brake and taillight plugs in the back. The only thing I did not get was the Trailer Brake Controller. I want to install one now, and would like to install the OEM for this truck. Has anyone done this? What is involved besides installing just the part? I was told I need to bring to ford to have the computer programmed? Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's the basics:
Buy the ITBC from someone like Tasca. Then remove the dash panels that give you access to pull the little cubby hole which has the ITBC plug attached to the back of it. Plug in the ITBC and put everything back together sans cubby hole.

Then go to a reputable Ford dealer and have them activate the software. Should take 5mins, but they may charge you a 1/2-1 hour.

Then test it. There have been quite a few folks reporting problems with the ITBC system, whether it be the BC or a module or a wire/plug.

Don't go to the dealer. Get ForScan and check out the threads on here. You can activate the software yourself, and if there is any issues it shouldn't be tough to fix with the ForScan and forum help.

I recently added the Ford ITBC to my truck and had it enabled by the dealership. I watched a YouTube video and then went for it. Very easy and nothing cracked or broken in the process. I have not tested it with a trailer yet. I also added the LED bed light kit and had that enabled in the same visit. They charged me $85.00 - I guess it took all of 10 min but they had me sitting there for an hour.

Wow.... A dealership near me wants $132.00 to flash the computer. Time for me to start shopping around!

I had my brake controller installed after I bought the truck. A local dealer who I use for service said they would install and activate it for their hourly rate. It only took a half hour so they charged me $45 (which is what they quoted me beforehand). It pays to shop around as I had quotes as high as $145 to just activate the controller assuming I installed it.

I went the dealer 2 times to flash the bed lights on 1rst and TBM on second. With what I spent combined ($100) I could have gotten the $80 OBDII MX adapter with forscan. I got that module, and probably have made $500 of enables/disables since I got it

So, instead of giving dealer you $$, go the forscan route, it pays off in the long run.

Been calling around to different Ford service departments. Got it down to $85.

Just got a TBC part number GL3Z-2C006-CB ,
went to install it by pulling out the

coin holder which has a plug attached to it.
I was told this is the TBC plug however it doesn't match the TBC and the hole in the dash looks like it would have to be cut out to put in the TBC, do I need an adapter cable and does the dash need to be trimmed out. Some photos attached

Is this truck 2wd? I know this is a newer model, but on the previous generation, 2wd got a coin slot where the 4wd selector would have been. And it's roughly in the same location, and the plug is very similar. Maybe there's another cubby for the TBC?

Edit: A quick google search shows it goes underneath the trailer backup ****:
