This thread made me laugh...as the NTSB would if the OP went running to them....but, but, but the older model had E Rated tires and this one only has C... SMH.

Thanks for showing the math Smokey. I can't believe it took more than one reply before someone pointed out that the tires are rated for more than the axle.

jmiller72. If you really spent hours on this, I am glad you're not my rocket surgeon...

Just because you don't like how it performs does not mean the tires are rated too low for the truck. Tire ratings are determined per the TRA. Most guys who tow take the OEM tires off and put higher rated tires on because they prefer to have a stiffer sidewall.

Heck, you get guys running load range E tires aired up to 80psi that can handle 3500lb each at that pressure when their axle is only rated for 4000lb.

The new truck is different than the old, even with the same tires it will perform differently (and a few guys have stated that they do not like how the new trucks tow even after changing tires and adding parts to improve the handling while towing.

2016 F-150 with HDPP and XLT or Lariat trim have heavy-duty 18" 6-lug wheels.

2016 F-150 with HDPP and XL trim have 17" 7-lug wheels = no change from '97 thru 2014 HDPP 7-lug wheels.

('97 through '99 were badged F-250 LD (light duty) instead of F-150 with HDPP). The F-250 LD name caused too much confusion with the 1997 F-250 HD (Heavy Duty) and '99-up F-250 SuperDuty, so Ford abandoned the F-250 LD badging after the 1999 model year. Ford skipped the 1998 model year for the F-250 HD and produced the '99 F-250 SuperDuty beginning very early in CY 1998.
