Default 2015 white knuckle ride

I just traded my 2004 F150 FX4 5.4 for a 2015 F150 super crew XLT with 3.5 eco, 3.55 axle, tow max package. Towing 5600 lbs travel trailer with equalizer hitch. The 2004 pulls the unit with no swaying problem, but is a little lacking in hill climbing power. The 2015 pulls like an animal, but is a scary ride if you have any type of wind. Swaying like crazy, not safe to travel. Any suggests?? Is it the 20" Kumho passenger tires that are standard equipment the cause of the problem. Any suggestions

Did you re-set your hitch or just move it from one to the other? If you did not make any adjustments, I would start there.

Made hitch adjustment for new truck. Also the tires are Hankook not Kumho as postd.

What did you adjust?

One common mistake (no offense intended) is to overlook whether the ball height on the truck is correct. If that isn't correct, nothing else is going to be right.

Is it possible that your ball height is higher on the new truck and that the trailer is tail down? That would certainly induce sway.

Something is wrong with your setup. It is not the truck.

With trailer and truck on level surface and trailer leveled. Measured trailer tongue height and made truck hitch height 1" lower than trailer.

The top of your ball should be about 1" HIGHER than the trailer tongue height.

You might be transferring too much weight to the front of the truck to get your trailer level. That will feel real squirrely.

etrailer.com has an excellent video on adjusting a WD hitch.

Level the trailer (without the truck) and measure the height to the inside of the coupler. Add 1 inch to that measurement. The truck (empty) should have that height at the top of the ball.

Did you set up the WDH as per the Ford owners manual? Measure front wheel well to ground on unhooked truck. Now attach trailer , WDH spring bars not connected, measure front WW , note amount raised. Now attach spring bars and adjust spring bars so your WW height is half way between two measurements. Trailer should be level or slightly nose down which you adjust with WDH height.

P series tires are the suck for towing. I aired mine up to max inflation and it was a little better but upgrading to LT tires load range E made all the diff in the world for my 2014 F150. I also installed a hellwig sway bar in the rear, I'm sure it didnt hurt but I do know for a fact the tire upgrade was the biggest difference.

Thank you for the feedback on P series tires vs LT. That is kinda what I thought but at 2000 miles I did not want to replace tires and have it not help. Has any body else had the same results switching to LT tires?

The tires that came on the truck are Passenger tires from Hankook. Dynapro ATM 275/55R20.
Any suggestion for a replacement 20" LT tire?
