2015 f150 w/ 8000lb BBQ pit in tow
Got our BBQ pit out this weekend and went to a cookoff in midland tx. I've pulled it before but just hadn't got any pictures. It does weight a legit 8000lbs when we have wood on the trailer and the water tank is full. I have to say i was really happy with how it pulls the trailer and the only downside from a diesel which I used to have is the gas mileage. The delicious brisket and ribs were worth it though.

50 Gallon water tank, enough wood to burn for 10 to 14 hours but the pit is a 1000 gallon propane tank so it eats some wood. the tank is 1/4 inch plate and the counterweights on each of the three doors weigh 120lbs a piece. Fire box is insulated with ceramic fire blanket and 2 layers of 3/8 inch plate and a layer of fire bricks in the bottom. Trailer also has two toolboxes, two cutting blocks, two gas burners, and a 5 foot wide and 2 foot deep stainless countertop with a sink in it. That doesnt include the extra box of spices, two yeti coolers, and the spare tire. Trust me its all there. Its been on a scale and weighed.

Thanks guys. Cooking is a father son thing between me, my dad, and my brother. We built the trailer ourselves back in 2009 and 2010. Texas BBQ in my opinion is in a league of its own but if you can ever get to a bbq competition and try some of that you may never want restaurant bbq again. I personally have a hard time eating bbq from restaurants because my standard is that of competition cooked bbq. You put so much effort into 2 chickens, 2 racks of ribs and one brisket based on outside appearance, inside the box appearance, taste, texture, and smell.

No doubt on 8K from me. I do the KCBS circuit up here. Those big stick burners are heavy!
Will be headed to the Royal next weekend. Will be our first trip with a Blue Ox on our trailer. Setting it up and hitting a CAT scale Saturday, though the trailer will not be fully loaded, we should be able to get a good read on the set up.

Smoking meat is a fun hobby. I like trying new flavors and different injections and brines. The competitions are always fun, especially if you win money. You always meet some nice people and eat some good food. I'm glad its something I can enjoy with my dad.
