2015 2.7EB Towing help
#12
Blunt
I have the same truck as OP listed.
2015 2.7 SuperCrew, FX4
4x4
Tow and payload package
3.73 locking rear diff
My TT is around 5000 lbs loaded. I was told it's 4500-4600 dry, so add in battery, propane tanks, food, bikes, etc, I'm guessing 5K-ish. Tows easily with the 2.7. Of course you can tell that you're towing when you accelerate, but handles like a dream. Can't even tell I'm towing anything when on the highway. I also do not use a sway bar or WDH. Truck barely squats. Braking is good too.
Not saying that you shouldn't check your weights, but sometimes just hooking up and seeing how it sits and how it handles gives you a good idea. I have yet to hit the scales, I've been way too busy and always end up working late on the days we head out camping... But I've got over 1000 miles on the trailer so far and haven't had any kind of scare or bad feeling. I also disable the trailer sway control in the trailer settings, doesn't seem to make a difference.
I wouldn't think twice about hauling an extra 1000 lbs, but I'd very likely get a WDH at that point. My trans temps were about 194-199 most of the trip, pretty hilly. A couple of VERY steep long hills which had me in 3rd gear @ 60 MPH made the temp go up to 210 near the top and then quickly went back down once leveled out.
