5.0 or 3.5 EB ?
I'm in the market for a F150 with max towing capacity. I want to buy a RV trailer but don't know what exactly yet. I guess would be between 7000 to 9000 lbs.
I'm wondering why Ford is offering the v8 5.0 and the EB 3.5 that would tow approx the same load. I could understand between the 2.5 EB and the 5.0 / 3.5 EB.
So should I get the 5.0 or 3.5?
I see the 3.5 will tow a bit more but in my case of 7000 to 9000 is one more advantaged to the other?
Thanks

Please use the search function. There is 1,000 threads on this topic. Both the 5.0 V8 and 3.5 EB will tow 9000 lbs, they will just tow it differently. Make sure you get something with a high payload, because you will most likely be over with a 9000 lb trailer. Also, just FYI, no such thing as a 2.5 EB.

Great question, it's one that doesn't get asked very often. (sorry, had to)

Ok about the payload what would make the payload be greater from on truck to the other?..some option like max tow?

Payload is different for every single truck out there. Basically, the more options you have on your truck the less payload will be. (i.e. XL will have more payload than a Lariat). What trim are you looking at getting? The only thing you can add to get more payload is the HDPP, but this will have to be ordered because they are impossible to find on a lot.

And I guess shorter box 5.5 will also give me more payload than a 6.5...right?

No, not necessarily. For example, if you want a Screw w/ HDPP it only comes in a 6.5. What trim level are you looking at?

If your camper is going to be over 7k lbs, the debate needs to be SD VS F150. Either motor will pull, just differently. My next truck would most likely be the eco. 470lbs of torque is just undeniable.
