I just got a 2012 f150 lariat 3.5 ecoboost. i got a used trailer brake controller out of a 2010 f150 from the junk yard.
I installt it and reprogramt my computer with forscan and a adapter that i purchased of amazon.
I also installed the fuse and the rellai. it and i have all the wires that go to the 7 pin adapter in the back ( so i think i got the tow package).

my display shows the gain settings now, but i cant change it. it's not recognizing any buttons when i push them, also when i hook up my camper it does not show up in the display.

any ideas on what is wrong with it? I think the TBC might be broken, but would it show that i have a trailer conectet!?!?

I hope someone can help in this case.

You have the wrong brake controller. You need one from a 2011-2014. The 2010 has a complete different computer system.
