2011 w/3.73 vs 2015 w/3.55?
Just wondering how the '15 with the 5.0 and 3.55's tows compared to the previous gen 5.0 with 3.73's. Towing is probably less than 5% of my yearly mileage. All my towing is east coast...
The '15 I am looking at has 400# more available payload while weighing 600# less.
Of course, if they are not willing to come down a little more, it doesn't really matter.

Ford does a good job in determining GCWR. GCWR will tell you the relative pulling power of the two rigs. GCWR tells you the max combined weight of your rig without burning up something in the drivetrain, and without being the slowpoke holding up traffic on hills and mountain passes.
For example, my SuperCrew has GCWR of 14,000 pounds, and it's great for towing my TT. So regardless of axle ratio or engine, any F-150 with 14,000 or more GCWR is going to be a good tow vehicle for my 5,000-pound TT.
Last year we moved Darling Daughter from El Paso to the Oregon border using my F-150 and 7x14 cargo trailer. My wet and loaded GCW was 13,420 in the middle of the trip at the Flyin' J in Ogden UT, or almost up to the 14k GCWR of the F-150. No problems at all, and plenty of power for dragging that load over the two Continental Divide mountain passes on I-80 in Wyoming.
