Mounted my aftermarket controller in the dash. Looks good, works well and you don't have to reach for the floor to pull the lever when needed. It is right there in easy reach and you don't bang your knee or chin into it. Did the same thing when I had my 09. When not needed I can just slide it out unplug it and throw it in the console

Why didn't you buy the OEM TBC? It works better, does not cost much more, is at the same location, and does not need to be removed. Did you already own the Prodigy?

Looks great! The Prodigy is a great TBC, I had one in my previous truck and really liked it. However, I would say with my first towing experience with my integrated TBC on my 2011, I prefer it over the Prodigy.

Originally bought this for my 09. I dont know how they are now but at that time according to the research i did the oem controllers were having trouble with locking up the trailer brakes. I figure why shell out the money for another when this one was just sitting there waiting and since it has always worked flawlessly kind of a no brainer.

Is the oem significantly better? If so why? Do ya need reflash to install if truck came with tow package?

Scram, did the same thing for the same reasons on my '09. After about 2 weeks I thought " Here I've got this beautiful $40,000 truck with this $80 eye sore sticking out of the dash." Frankly, it looked like crap. Bought the factory unit, installed it myself, much more satisfactory in every way. The OEM controller is better. Heck, it was worth the money just to clean up the dash!

Definitely better.

The biggest improvement for me is that it auto adjusts the brake output depending upon your speed. With my old truck and P2 I always had to dial it down when coming into town for gas. Otherwise it would be really jerky at low speeds. Then remember to dial it back up when going out on the highway (and sometimes forgetting).

It also does something to your trailer brakes when your truck's ABS comes on. Pulses them? Not sure, but it does use ABS info somehow.

Don't think it does anything when sway is detected. That's all on the truck's side.

The trailer's electric brake system is primitive compared to what's on the truck, so anything that helps it do the job is a plus.

Yes, the OEM TBC is the best trailer brake controller you can get. It gets it's data directly from your master brake cylinder, and is tied in with ABS & sway control.
The prodigy is based on a deceleration sensor, so there is a delay. You first need to get some deceleration for the trailer brakes to even kick in.

Didn't know that. So no deceleration sensor? Definitely an improvement.
