I've got the 2.7L payload package on mine, my payload is 1733 lbs. I've also got as much truck as I could get with the 2.7L motor.

The OP was looking at a 2.7, which is the subject of the thread.

Anyone that thinks a SD rides as smooth as a 150 still must have SD honeymoon goggles on

Lol! I've driven a few SD for work and couldn't agree more. Great, practical trucks but they are no what I would call a smooth ride, especially unloaded.

just ordered a 17 f150 HD to replace my 2015 f 250 lost about 300-400 pounds of payload and well worth it in my opinion as the heavest trailer I tow might be 5000 pounds just carry alot of payload normally

I guess it all depends on the individual trucks. My SCAB 13 STX5.0 4x4 and my CC LWB 16 F350 DRW 4x4 ride pretty much the same. We just drove it 1400 miles round trip to the east coast and back only lightly loaded and the ride was very good. Both trucks are essentially work trucks, with Vinyl floors and cloth seats etc, the 16 SD is quieter on the road as far as wind noise and the diesel is very quiet at cruise speed on the highway too.

I just did some test drives yesterday deciding on a truck. Drove a 17 F350 XLT and a used 15 F250 Lariat. The roads near me are pretty rough and let me tell you, the F250 bounced like crazy, I mean wheels off the ground bouncing at 55 MPH. The F150's dont do that, not as heavily sprung as the superduties. The F350 was a little smoother but you knew you were driving a heavy truck and if it was to be a daily driver that you put 120 miles a day in, it would wear on you.

What I found odd, the F250 had a 2000 pound payload, an F150 XLT Screw had 1950 pound payload, so in the end, the F250 was not much more truck other than it having a diesel.

It is not uncommon. A diesel 3/4 ton will have less payload than a Heavy Duty Payload Package F150, and even some lower-trim standard half-tons. That is also why the Nissan TitanXD Cummins diesel is a fail. The weight of the diesel drivetrain uses up a lot of the payload.

My guess is a Screw 145 4x4 XLT 301A with 2.7EB HDPP, Tow Pkg and 36 gal tank is going to be about 5000 lb. Likely to have a roughly 1850 lb payload

That leaves you 8300 lb for driver, cargo and trailer. GCWR is 13300.
