Here is my 2015 XLT 4X2, 2.7 with 3.31 axle towing a 2004 Casita 17 (3,500 lbs). With this rig I average around 15.8 MPG while towing. I find the 2.7 4X2 with the 3.31 axle just fine for towing a light Travel Trailer. When not towing I get 20-23 MPG on the highway depending on wind and speed. I find the 2.7 has plenty power for normal driving and light towing.

When towing I set the cruise on 62 MPH. I made a 4 hour (non-towing) trip this weekend. 75% of it was 70 MPH and 25% of it was 55 MPH. I averaged 23.2 for the trip. Hope this helps.

Steve

I have a '15 2.7 with elect brake controller, with 3.55 electronic locker axle( live in big time snow country - 98" season to date) and I pull a 4,000 lb fishing boat all the time. Never felt under powered. Pulling boat between 62 - 65 with no head wind on flat ground average calculated 15.1 mpg (that was 3 trips - do not check anymore). If i need to get around someone pulling boat the 2.7 jumps when you jab peddle. With no trailer and 65% city driving I average 21 calculated. At 75 my driving is not running hard light to light, and i cruise at 65 mph on interstate - would rather spend $$ on fishing tackle/trips to Canada fishing then on gas. Have XLT. Best truck i have ever owned - period.

Hey guys...
Just wanted to thank you guys again for your help and advice. Just a little over 9 weeks ago I ordered this truck and it arrived last Wednesday, so I picked it up on Friday. Love the truck! I didn't want this to be one of those threads where everyone wondered what happened. I did go with the 3.5. Either would have been fine I'm sure but with the 3.5 I also got all the options I wanted. Got the large fuel tank, but what the heck, I drive like a little old lady anyway....my apologies if I have offended any little old ladies...
