Default 1995 lightning/4.9 rear end swap?

Ive been searching but cant seem to find a definate answer...

I bought a 1995 f150 xl. 2wd automatic 4.9l and I believe it has 3.08 rear end...I would prefer it have lower gears as I bought it for towing.

My question is will a rear end from a 95 lightning with 4.10 rear end fit my truck? If not what modifications will be needed?

Also any other suggestions as to other rear ends that may fit. Id prefer to have 3.73 or 4.10 as I need to haul multi ton loads in city, no highway hauling.

I know very little about rear ends. So any help would be much appreciated!

I'd be willing to bet it's a fairly simple swap. start looking around at junkyards for any trucks from that generation with the right gears. There's bound to be a lot of them. If you're only in-town, anything between 3.73 and 4.30 would work just fine. My '88 had 3.55 with a 5-speed. It wasn't a rocket with a '89 Bonneville on a U-Haul flat trailer, but it never was anyways. 3.08 would have to be a dog...

If you have the dollars, re-gearing your rear and putting in a torque-biasing differential is a real solid option for a 2wd truck.
