'13 EcoBoost Towing >9k Pounds
Whenever we tow our tractor with the 7' cutter attached we're a few hundred pounds under the truck's maximum towing rating. Every time I'm impressed with how well this bone stock truck tows. F150 towing ability has come a long way.

over max trailer weight and probably WAY over payload and tongue weight rating of the hitch. Power is not a function of towing capacity in half-tons, and really hasn't been a factor in 15-20 years.

My 2012 F-150 with 3.5L EcoBoost engine is also a towing monster. I've towed a trailer that grossed about 21,000 pounds with GCW of 27,500 across the Hill County with no problems other than being severely overloaded over payload capacity and rGAWR . I was towing a gooseneck trailer, so no problem of exceeding the TW rating of a receiver. But no doubt that I was severely overloaded. So "don't try this at home". :( |

The modern F150 will surely pull some weight. When I was pulling my skid steer around, that trailer needed a fair amount of tongue weight to keep from waggling, so I had to add a leaf to the back, a SuperSpring worked well, but there went the ride quality when it’s empty. The Tow/Performance tune from 5STAR was a good investment too, because it wasnt hunting for gears anymore. If I had a do-over I would have got a F250 though. |
Well I've got nothing but charts to go by.
An F250 would be nice, but the new ones are so expensive. |
