'13 EcoBoost Towing >9k Pounds

Whenever we tow our tractor with the 7' cutter attached we're a few hundred pounds under the truck's maximum towing rating. Every time I'm impressed with how well this bone stock truck tows. F150 towing ability has come a long way.

I love this pic! Reminds me of the Ram ad from a few years back: So God Made a Farmer.

A TT 5.0 would be awesome!

over max trailer weight and probably WAY over payload and tongue weight rating of the hitch. Power is not a function of towing capacity in half-tons, and really hasn't been a factor in 15-20 years.

I'm a few hundred pounds under the 9,700 max loaded trailer weight. See Ford's documentation. 2013 Ford F-150 Trailer Towing Selector

Empty trailer weight: 3,085 lb
Tractor + cutter: 6,000 lb
Passenger, other cargo, etc.: 200 lb

That's the tow rating. But the tow rating tells you only the max weight you can PULL without overheating anything in the drivetrain and without being the slowpoke holding up traffic on hills and passes. The tow rating is not your limiter. Your limiter is payload capacity. Chimmike said " probably WAY over payload and tongue weight rating of the hitch." Nothing to do with tow rating. Without seeing a scale ticket, I don't know how much overloaded you were, but I agree with Chimmike that you were probably overloaded.

My 2012 F-150 with 3.5L EcoBoost engine is also a towing monster. I've towed a trailer that grossed about 21,000 pounds with GCW of 27,500 across the Hill County with no problems other than being severely overloaded over payload capacity and rGAWR . I was towing a gooseneck trailer, so no problem of exceeding the TW rating of a receiver. But no doubt that I was severely overloaded. So "don't try this at home". :(

I agree, likely over capacity. Charts are crap.

The modern F150 will surely pull some weight.

When I was pulling my skid steer around, that trailer needed a fair amount of tongue weight to keep from waggling, so I had to add a leaf to the back, a SuperSpring worked well, but there went the ride quality when it’s empty.

The Tow/Performance tune from 5STAR was a good investment too, because it wasnt hunting for gears anymore.

If I had a do-over I would have got a F250 though.

Well I've got nothing but charts to go by.

An F250 would be nice, but the new ones are so expensive.
