Default 07 F150 w/ tow package. need brake controller

My 2007 F150 came, used, with an unused tow package. there was an envelope in the glove compartment with some parts to use with electric brakes, but I still need a controller. I see them on Amazon for anywhere from $30 to $190. Is the $30 type ok? I just got a 20 foot car hauler for storing, or hauling, my 67 Mustang Convertible or my 72 Mach 1.

No, not the cheapest.
You will want a "proportional" brake controller.
Like a Tekshona Voyageur or Tekshona Prodigy P2.

I bought this one and pulled an 18 foot 1500lb car hauler with 6K lbs on it...worked like a champ...I did have to also buy the Ford pig tail for it and splice it on.. the unit is at O'reilles for $65.99 and the pigtail was I think $12..it fit perfect between the drivers seat and center console for the trip and un-plugged it when I was done... ensure you install your relay you found in the bag.

The Reese Pilot is a "time-delay" type of controller, not a "proportional" controller.
Cheaper, but you can get a better "proportional" type for ~$90 and up at etrailer.com

I agree...but, don't ever see me using it again...so it was a one time thing. If I ever do need it again I know it works...

The Prodigy is what I recommend. Once set, it works very well with minimal adjustments. As soon as my'16 comes in, I would consider selling mine.
The first brake controller I used was a Voyager; cheaper but requiring constant adjustment.

Connection is quick, plug & go, with two screws to mount the unit under dash and the factory connector wire to your Prodigy brake controller.
