How to use Photobucket
Okay, I am going to make a step by step writeup on how to use www.photobucket.com, for the easyest photo hosting you will ever encounter.
first of all, go to www.photobucket.com, and click on the "join now" button in the middle of the page. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step1.jpg you will then see a page that looks like this, fill it out, and click the next step button on the bottom http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step2.jpg you will then see this page, which asks for more information, which you need to fill in, and I reccomend unchecking the box that asks you if you want to enter for a chance to be entered into a 10000 dollar sweepstakes, it only makes the process longer. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step3.jpg |
first, click on the browse button next to the blank as seen in the previous picture, and a new window will come up, asking ou to sellect the file you want to upload. Find the picture you want (I will be using a old picture of my truck) and hit the open button.
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step5.jpg once you have done that you just have to hit the upload button, and you have secesfully uploaded your first picture to photobucket! now, I will show you how to post your picture on this website. First you click on the "img" code on the very bottom of the list of options, and it will automatically coppy the text for you. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step6.jpg Then you come to this site, and hit the Ctrl button and the "V" button that the same time, and you will see the immage code for the picture that you have uploaded, ans your picture will show up once you make your post. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...m/DSCF1153.jpg |
okay, now you have a few more options when it comes to using photobucket, you can upload your picture and have it appear as a certan size. first you need to click here, where it says options.
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step7.jpg then, you will see this page, which allows you to sellect what size your picture will be uploaded as, I use 640x480 because it fits nicely on this site. you can also sellect 100x75 to resize your picture for use as a avatar. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...orum/step8.jpg Okay, now everyone can now use photobucke with ease, but the bad part is that you no longer have ANY excuse not to post up pictures. I hope that this helps people out! Ty |
Can everyone read through this and tell me if there are any places that are not clear, or could use more pictures or explination, or any other parts of photobucket that need explaining?
|
nice write up... i cant tell how many different write ups ive done on how to use the computer such as settings on forums and photbucket stuff... looks good.
|
thanx ty, this will help everyone, there's evan hope for me:thumbup:. i've never had to do the "control v" thingee. that's new to me. when i go and copy the img code,i then go to the post and hit paste and my pics have been showing up. i still have trouble with posting a pic when it's an attachment in an email. i just move it into my pics on the puter and then i move them to photobucket. but that is a great how-to post:thumbsup:
|
Thank god for this thread, it will come in handy for sure.
|
A thorough explanation of how to host pics on photobucket. I am sure it will be very useful to the members here.
Is everyone aware that this forum has it's own upload feature? You can use it to browse the folders on your computer and select which pics you want to upload. And you don't have to join any file hosting sites to use it. Just another option for posting your pics! |
yes, but photobucket automatically resizes the crazy huge files that most of todays digital cameras take, and the upload feature has a maximum size limit for the picture.

Better to 'Stick it for him' than stick it to him... Great post Ty!!! |
Wow didnt realize it was so easy ive only used the site upload.
|
This is a good sticky but maybe it should be moved to the "How-to" section.
|

Great posting on photo bucket

Your instructions and graphics are very clear, concise and complete! I've been looking for an easy way to do this for a long time. Thank you. |
Photobucket seems to be a great way to store pics but my problem with it is this. For some reason, the website filter at my work will not allow me to get on Photobucket, or see any of the pics, they just show up as red Xs. Really sucks.
|
I haven't tried photobucket yet but i just started using picassa from google and i love it.
One of the best things i like is the fix it all button when editing. You can click on many different "fix" buttons but it has one that fixes everything on the photo and they really look better after just one click. The thing I don't like about it is that i can't figure out how to resize the photo's by a pixel count. Maybe I'm just missing it let me know if you've used it. |

OK;
I must be the only dummy here. I get "Invalid Image" reply when I try to post. I may be the one guy that you just can't teach. |
thats a good write up. had no doubts about rest but only about selecting avatar.
cheers |
Wow this is really nice that you have discussed it step by step.

I just upload everything via manage attachments. They must be sized though, Photobucket will allow you to resize it via their website.
|
Thank you for sharing the information.

[Photobucket]] is one of the easiest and most convenient photo-sharing sites on the Internet. You can also store videos, create slideshows, and search for media in other users' albums or just browse randomly. You can then display your photos and other media on your blog, your MySpace page, or on eBay. Best of all, most of the site's functionality is available for free, so there's no reason not to get started with Photobucket today!
|
I keep getting "invalid file" when I paste the IMG link. Any advice?
|
|
Thanks bakersmith: That write up was perfect.
|
In the photoBucket, you can also store video, create sideshows, and albums of other users or just feel free to browse media search. Then, you can display on your blog, your MySpace page photos and other media.
|
Just giving it a try
|
Thanks for the step by step. I tried to upload pictures of my Explorer onto Craigslist for a couple of hours last week with no luck. I ended up using the hyperlink to Photobucket for the extra pictures beyond the normal four small ones.
Do you happen to know if this will work on Craigslist as well. I'm talking about being able to view the photos in the description area? |
My firewall at work doesn't allow photobucket.
Grrrrr... |
Hehe, good
|
Just Trying it also.

Wait...I'm confused and new to the site... I have to go through all that to put pics in my album? I tried earlier and it said I couldn't because I don't have a security token. Do I have to put them on photobucket before I can put them in my album?
|
I know nothing about photobucket I just upload right off my computer

You may want to try a different browser. I'll assume you're on a Mac? If so....you can get IE for Mac. I'm not a fan at all of IE, but if you're having a problem it would be a good place to start. To post pictures within a post: I keep a folder on my photobucket account called "forum pictures". Upload the picture/s you want to include in a post. When you click on the uploaded picture and it's displayed in Photobucket....it will have links to one side that you can use share in a post. On this forum you'll want what's called the "Direct Link" (see pic below) When you click on it ....it will automatically copy it so all you have to do is paste it into you post after clicking on the "Insert image" button. Hope this helps. http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u...res/pbinfo.jpg EDIT: Noticed you got it worked out. Didn't realize how old the post was. |

Don't put anything here
Dr. You want to put your link in the message area...not in the title. You're also missing an [IMG] tag at the end of your link.

What do you do if you are uploading photos via mobile?! Like my iPhone app! I can't upload pics! And it's upsetting me!!!
|
I'll give it a try from my iPad

Might be time to change the info as photobucket has a new look. I found the old instructions here a little outdated particularly concerning setting the upload size. Then again maybe it is just my dumb.

Don't know if I am the only one who missed it, but to get the img code to appear, while in photobucket, hover your mouse over your picture. Then you will see the selection.

The only thing I can think is that the old picture is still in your copy cache. I pulled 4 photos into photo bucket, then copied the file as the instructions suggests one at a time into my post. Not sure in this helps. Keep trying you get it.

You don't want to upload anything to this site for a post. You want to link your photos to this site. (uploading to your "Album" is ok, but don't use those photos in a post)
I keep a folder on my photobucket account called "forum pictures". Upload the picture/s you want to include in a post. When you click on the uploaded picture and it's displayed in Photobucket....it will have links to one side that you can use share in a post. Thanks BlacknBack! I will remember this!!
|
If this forum has it,s own upload feature how do you find it and how do you use it? The photo Bucket stuff is to many moves for me. There has got to be a simpler way to add a photo to a post?
|
Trying to figure it out as well.........
