Looks great. I have an '11 FX4 but its black. Really wish I would have found a white one. lol. I did the same with the badges and ovals, except I sanded the black part smooth. May want to consider paint to match flares... I did oem ones and it made a huge difference.

Thanks! I ALMOST sanded mine down smooth. But looking at the rest of the truck, I kind of liked the texture bc there's texture to the flares, grille, bed caps, etc.

I've also considered PTM flares, either the OEM or aftermarket extended flares, but I kind of like the added contrast since there's other black accents too.

Probably should have documented it better, but my retrofit is underway.

Morimoto Mini H1
Mini gatling gun shrouds
5500K bulbs

Got the headlights apart much easier than expected. Per a video on youtube, I heated the oven to 250* then put the light in for 30 minutes. I then pried with a wide, flat head screwdriver, and they popped apart pretty easily. Had to reheat multiple times to get the majority of the permaseal out of the channel.

I didn't expect to have to trim much at all to fit the H1 projectors, but I ended up having to trim the bulb holder on the back of the reflector, as well as opened up the bulb hole and had to grind the reflector bucket. Overall, not bad, but was more than I expected to deal with.

Since I have the black bezel FX4 headlights, I decided to just paint the reflector bucket and shroud with Krylon Fusion satin black spray. I laid down 3 coats of adhesion promoter, then 4 coats of color. I don't have a good, clean environment to paint, but overall they turned out good. A few imperfections, but overall they will be difficult to notice once the lens is on. I left the turn signal/running light reflector chrome, bc I didn't want to reduce the output from this signal. Plus it'll tie in with the Rigid bar in the bumper opening.

Here's a picture mocked up:

I went ahead and put the wire harness together in preparation for tomorrow. If all goes well, I hope to have these completed tomorrow night or Thursday night.

Ran into a bit of an issue last night when I tried to get everything wired up and running. Everything initially came on, but the driver's side was flickering then turned off. It would kick back on if I switched off then on, but would only stay on for a few seconds. So I swapped just the ballast to the passenger side, and the problem followed. Luckily it was relatively easy to troubleshoot and find. Called TRS this morning for warranty replacement. Was told it would ship today if I got them the picture of disabled ballast before a certain time. Well, I got it to them 2.5 hours before that cutoff time, but I still never got a tracking number.

Luckily, there's an auto accessories shop local, and I was able to pick up a ballast from them for $30. I was able to get everything up and running and aimed, then stuck the projectors with steel stick. Looks awesome and can't wait to finish these up!

Just noticed that big box sitting patiently in the background on the left of the headlight pictures is my Bakflip F1 cover. Hope to get it on this afternoon too. Been a busy couple weeks of changes!

Got the Bakflip installed this evening. Looks good. Too dark for pictures though.

Installation was simple. Clamp the side rails to the bed rails, set the cover and align, tighten down. Basically that simple with a few minor steps in between. I like the look better than my old toolbox. Now to figure out bed storage options.

No real updates. I pulled the Grizzly down to look at some hunting land this past weekend. Liking the look of the Bakflip. Need to figure out the best option for putting a tote or something toward the tailgate for easy access without flipping the cover all the way open.

LOVE the big foot/little for combo. That's awesome

How hard was it to take your badges off and split them? What did you use to get them off and stick them back on? I so badly want to do mine.. But not sure where to start!

Getting the badges off was easy. A little hairdryer heat and some fishing line, and they come off without much trouble. I use 3M automotive emblem adhesive to put them back on, but I noticed that a lot of people just use some type of double sided tape.

With yours also being an '11, you may or may not have the 2-piece badges. Mine just happened to be the 2-piece thankfully. So, on the back of them, there's tabs that hold the black letters in the chrome surround. Just had to go around it with a small screwdriver to pry out those clips. It was a little bit of a pain bc I was trying really hard not to break any of the little clips (still broke a couple though ) and they're on there pretty tight. If yours aren't 2-piece or you want an extra set to work on, the appearance package black and red emblems are 2-piece. I almost bought a set on eBay to work on bc I wasn't sure if mine were 2 piece. But i just popped them off to check and it saved me ~$130.
