Thanks dude. Haven't touched the alternator or battery yet. Everything works fine with the truck running, although I can't run any of the lights with the engine off. I've been thinking about adding a deep cycle battery in addition to the starter battery. I've fished a lot in Narragansett Bay..do you know O'Connel's Shipyard on the river? I'm friends with that guy, he comes to the island every summer.

looks good, I figured it would be for your rod racks. are you sure a deep cycle is going to work in a truck? my understanding is that they have to be charged for lengthy periods at a time and thats why they aren't used in batteries. If that's the case you may want to look into a dual battery setup.
just my $0.02

I have 2 in my boat for running the electrics and 2 separate starter batteries....they go for days without being charged without any issues.

right and I get that, I think its the fact that they start to get the charge and before they're juiced again get their supply cut off, or something like that. Then again I could be wrong.

i would believe that. i do have a customer that comes into advance when im working that runs deep cycle batteries in his truck, he says he leaves his doors open and radio on all day long, and people constantly tell him his battery is going to die, then at the end of the day he starts it up and drives home.

would be interesting to see in a truck. id like to know if they take longer to charge. like if you run them for 6 hours if you have to have the truck running for an hour to charge them back.

at any rate, i think tuna is talking about installing a separate deep cycle battery in his truck to run his lights, and other accessories, while still leaving the normal battery in there for starting.

on the other hand, some batteries are just plain awesome. a friend of mine had an older redtop optima, probably 4 years old at the time, i watched him leave his car off, doors open, radio blairing, for 4+ hours, then it started right up and went about its business.

Hey man. i recieved and installed my KC backup lights. i got them earlier than i thought so i just went ahead and installed without the optional cab switch.. i followed yours and KC's instructions and one of my lights inst working ... im not powering my lights off of the stereo power like you did (ive just been connecting the green wire straight to the battery for now) and only one light will come on. i tied the reverse wire into my 7-pin connector so i know its getting a good signal.

i am completely baffled at why one of them wont work. do you have any advice for me? maybe something im doing wrong?

Only my switch is powered off my stereo power. The lights turn on in reverse via the truck's reverse wire. Check your connections with the light that wont turn on. Where did you ground it?
